We are missing you all and the usual energy at the Village Green…especially Julie and Lio, who are a bit sad they can’t play with their friends on the playground or listen to music on the Deck 💔

Bread, croissants, danishes and savoury pastries will all be available, pre-packed by our staff wearing safety gloves and masks before the shop opens.

Coffee will also be available for takeaway only.

🍕🍕 No Pizzas This Week Only 🍕🍕

The Bakery would like to thank everyone for continuing to support our business, and for trusting us during this time.

We have new safety measures to keep everyone safe while continuing to feed the community. These include reducing contact with cash, protecting food from airborne risks, and keeping safe distances between our customers.

For this Wednesday ONLY (1 April), we will not be making pizza.

Skipping this week means we can avoid a supermarket visit to buy ingredients we're low on, and reduce our exposure risk.

We'll be open on Saturday (4 April) for bread and pastries as usual, and the following Wednesday night (8 April) for takeaway pizza.

Dear Friends,
Please join us to celebrate and share stories of the past eighteen years at Crystal Waters Bakery, and to welcome the new owners; Bernard and Chiya with their little daughters Julie and Lio.
This is our chance (Les and the team) to thank all our customers, helpers, friends for their great support over the years, and for all of us to express our thanks to Les for his contribution to the local community and beyond.

The new face of Crystal Waters Bakery! New owners Bernard Devos and his wife Chiya will continue to bake the wholesome organic wood-fired sourdough which Les established in 2001. Lesley and Chiya will be outside @maplestreetcoop on Saturday 24th with some taste tests and looking forward to talking about the wonderful tradition of proper sourdough bread. Stay posted as the the transition continues; Les will be fully retired by the end of January. Thanks a million to all our dear customers over these past years.

On Sunday Robert and Les leave for their visit to Les's son in Argentina before returning in time for the July Market. ... And here IS Barry Bowden, and Les .. Dropping by for our last Witta market. As much as I'm going to miss Witta and Montville markets, Les is clearly delighted and relieved to be easing up on the baking load.
We're looking forward to seeing more of you venture down into the valley on Saturday mornings, 8am - 1pm, for a peaceful easy morning of coffee, croissants and sourdough. And a jolly good chat.

Whaaat! An unexpected sight at the bakery tonight.
It seems our old friend (and grower, miller and baker of bread) Barry Bowden was able to convince Les where all else have failed. Together they brought Mark's dough mixer down from the loft and ... Mixed tomorrow's loaves by machine!

We will definitely be at Witta market this Saturday, (which is also the fabulous Wittafest) for the last time with our bread stall. I'm trying to find a fitting photo and something lyrical to say about it.
For now please just be assured - I will be there. And Les will be serving coffee and croissants at Crystal Waters where you can find him every Saturday between 8am and 1pm.

Tomorrow will be the last time we have a stall at Montville market. I'm sad, I've been hoping Les might change his mind. But there it is... the big bakes (at times they've been up to 200) just aren't fun any more. Here's a tired Les and some loaves for tomorrow.
Next Saturday will be the last for us at Witta. from then onwards, the bread will only be available from Crystal Waters and Maple st co-op. .

Missing the Maleny Wood Expo for the first time in all these years. Sad to miss the people, the vibe, the music and connection. But things are slowing down at the bakery, in keeping with natural cycles. Baking is stil Les's joy, and as he grows older he's happy to bake smaller batches to keep his energy strong. Three days' baking in a row (all by hand, no electric mixer) is more than he'd enjoy! So we'll see you on Saturday 7 May at Crystal Waters Market for a nice easy pace.

The First Crystal Waters Market of the year is this Saturday, the 6th Feb, 8am-1pm! A mere sampling of many highlights:

- Big Summer $2 Clothing Sale from Treasures Op-Shop

- all day open-mic - go to the Deck early and talk to Mal to get your spot on the blackboard!

-Billy's Ayurvedic Kitchen at the Community Deck Kitchen (past the music area), in addition to a variety of other dining options for breakfast and/or lunch

- This month's local, healthy and personally-made/grown wares from stallholders include: produce and organic seedlings, interesting herbs, hand-made soaps, bush-food plants, Crystal Waters Honey, natural insect repellents, hemp-made products, homeopathics, organic seeds and sprouts, acupuncture, ortho-bionomy (a type of body work), hand-sewn tea cozies and other incredible crotcheted items, organic dry food supplies like quinoa and dried fruit, and magic wands. and yegods, there's more! ;)

- Bric a Brac Lane: home to only the coolest secondhand clothing and the most dazzling display of jewelry, assorted items, and massage tents. Please feel free to play the giant xylophone at the end.

- Post-market CHILLSESH- DJ-d music from the Deck afterwards to eat dinner to; to play frisbee to; and to just to hang out with kangaroos and watch horses run around with your friends and family, or on your own.

- And also there's also a band playing down the road Saturday evening, apparently Warren Morgan at 591 Aherns Rd. the first on the right on Aherns Road going towards Conondale. So there you go!

As well as us, the German Bakers from Cooroy will be there again so there's plenty of choice for great local bread - and German pastries.
To savour Les's sourdough croissants and pastries you'll need a trip down into the valley to Crystal Waters Bakery, open 8am-1pm every Saturday.
