🌸 When your name is Rumi-Blossom, a basic setup was NEVER going to cut it. 😂

🌷 Our Little Wildflower Blossoms Into ONE 🌷

For this Little Wildflower’s First Birthday, the studio literally bloomed with approximately 847 flowers and absolutely no interest in keeping things understated. 😂🌺

Apparently, after 15 years of photographing babies, I’m now also running a florist. Totally normal career progression. 😂📸

Rumi-Blossom explored her floral wonderland, flashed those gorgeous grins, got amongst the cake and added her own special brand of first-birthday chaos to the garden. 🎂🌼 Little hands, icing, flowers and a whole lot of personality made this one ridiculously fun to photograph.

A ONE Wild Blossom moment with a little Wildflower Blossom ONEderland thrown in for good measure. 🌿🦋

🦄 Apparently unicorns don’t travel alone… they bring rainbows, clouds, hearts and an absolutely ridiculous amount of cuteness 🌈😂

Lily’s Rainbow Unicorn Cake Smash turned the studio into one big pastel wonderland, filled with fluffy clouds, colourful heart showers, rainbows, glowing ONE letters and little unicorns tucked amongst the setup. ☁️💕✨🌈 Then Lily arrived with those tiny pigtails and pretty white dress and somehow managed to become the brightest part of the whole thing.

She explored the setup, settled herself beside her giant pink cupcake and got busy with the important stuff. 🎂🥄 Buttercream was tasted, fingers disappeared into icing and that beautifully piped cake gradually became considerably less beautifully piped. 😂💗

This is exactly why I love Cake Smashes. I get to create ridiculously pretty sets, photograph ridiculously cute babies and then document the very efficient destruction of my handiwork.

📸🦄 Occupational hazard. I’ll survive.

🌿 Welcome to the jungle, where the foliage is thick, the animals are wild… and apparently there’s a new king in town. 👑🦁

Isaiah’s Safari Jungle Cake Smash was packed with lush greenery, jungle leaves, timber details and a whole crew of safari animals keeping watch. 🦁🦒🦓🌿 This little explorer arrived looking ridiculously cute in his neutral overalls and lion ears, then got straight down to the important first birthday business.

There was cake poking, spoon licking, icing sampling and eventually a full-scale demolition job. 🎂🥄😂 By the end, the cake was missing chunks, the floor had gained several, and Isaiah was wearing enough icing to officially become part of the setup.

I create these elaborate sets beautifully knowing full well a one-year-old is about to come in and cause complete destruction. 📸🙈 Honestly, it would almost be rude if they didn’t.

Why waste time picking up the cake when you can simply lower your entire face into it? Efficiency, people. 😂🎂🩷

Zarah came in smiling, explored every inch of her setup and wasted absolutely no time getting involved once the cake appeared. Hands in the icing, cake in both fists, crumbs across the floor and one gorgeous little birthday girl crawling straight through the evidence. 😂🤍🧁 Exactly the kind of beautifully organised chaos I’m here for.

Even better, this isn’t my first time photographing this gorgeous family. They’ve trusted me with many sessions over the years, and I’ve been lucky enough to watch their family grow one milestone at a time. 📸🥹 Now Zarah’s first birthday gets added to the collection, complete with butterflies, cake and a studio floor that definitely earned its pay that day. 🦋💕

Apparently one adorable baby wasn’t enough for this family, so they came back and casually brought me another one. 😂🤍

This time, it was beautiful little Violet’s turn for her newborn session. 🌸📸

Having photographed her older sibling as a newborn, there’s something incredibly special about seeing this gorgeous family back in the studio with baby number two. The years might fly by at a completely offensive speed, but getting to capture these milestones along the way is one part of my job I’ll never get tired of. 🥹✨

Violet was absolutely divine. Tiny fingers, perfect little features, gorgeous sleepy moments and all those newborn details that disappear far too quickly. 🤎

Two babies photographed. Two chapters captured. One beautiful family I feel very lucky to have welcomed back. 🤍🌿

OLIVER’S PASSPORT SAYS USA. HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY SAID COUNTRY CLUB WITH A SIDE OF CAKE. 🇺🇸🐎🎂

This gorgeous little man travelled all the way from the United States to Australia for his birthday celebrations AND his Ralph Lauren Polo Cake Smash right here with me! 🇺🇸✈️🇦🇺💙 Knowing his family chose my studio as part of their Australian adventure and trusted me to capture such a huge milestone from literally the other side of the world is incredibly special. What an absolute honour.

16 years photographing babies and apparently I’ve now gone international without leaving Clyde. 😂📸 I’ll take it!

Oliver looked every bit the tiny gentleman in his bow tie and suspenders, sitting amongst his Ralph Lauren setup, exploring all the little details and taking centre stage before moving onto the very important birthday business… cake. 🤎🎂

THE JUNGLE HAS A NEW KING… AND APPARENTLY HIS ROYAL DUTIES INCLUDE ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHING CAKE. 👑🦁🎂

AJ brought serious Wild One energy to his Jungle Safari Cake Smash! 🌿🦒🐘
The safari truck was parked, the giraffe was on lookout duty and the cake was sitting innocently in the middle of it all. Poor thing never had a chance. 😂

🍰 Sticky fingers, cake-covered suspenders and one very determined little explorer made for exactly the kind of beautifully messy first birthday session I love photographing.

Because apparently my job is to build an entire safari in Clyde, add cake, release a one-year-old into it and document the aftermath. Completely normal profession. 😏

Apparently blue and gold is classy. Luca took one look at that plan and added crumbs, icing and glorious destruction. 💙✨🎂

This Boys Blue and Gold Cake Smash had everything I love in a first birthday set. And right in the middle was Luca, bringing the grin that basically stole the entire show.

He kicked things off with his pre-smash portraits, sitting in my little white chair like the absolute star of the studio. 📸🥹 Then we brought in the cake and Luca quickly upgraded my carefully styled set with his own decorating technique.

Cake on the hands. Cake on the floor. Cake scattered around the set. Tiny feet amongst the evidence. 🎂😂🙌 Exactly the level of birthday chaos I expect and wholeheartedly encourage.

Then it was romper off and into the mini bath for a splashy finish, complete with another round of those massive smiles. 🛁💦

I provide the beautiful set. The babies provide the demolition crew. Seems like a perfectly reasonable business model to me. 😏📸

🌷 Florals, boho prettiness and soft pink everything… because apparently cake destruction deserves an elegant setting. 😂🎂

Tahlia’s Pink Floral Boho Cake Smash brought together beautiful blooms, feminine pink tones, boho details and just enough sweetness to make the whole setup look far too innocent for what was about to happen. 🌸🎀

Once Tahlia got her hands on the cake, things moved beautifully from styled first birthday portraits to buttercream absolutely everywhere. 🍰💕 She poked, grabbed, squished and smeared her way through the session while I happily photographed every messy little detail. 📸🤭

This is exactly my kind of first birthday celebration. Start with a beautifully coordinated set, add one gorgeous baby and one perfectly innocent cake… then stand back while all that careful styling gets spectacularly destroyed. 😂

And really, if a Pink Floral Boho setup survives a cake smash looking exactly as it started, I’m going to have questions. 🌺✨ Tahlia understood the assignment beautifully. 🎂

Turns out the rarest butterfly in this garden was the one with pigtails, a cheeky grin and enough personality to require its own postcode. 🦋🌸🤣

The cheeky grins came thick and fast, the giggles were infectious, and once the cake landed, she got straight down to business. 🎂🙌 Tiny hands into buttercream, cake absolutely everywhere and that gorgeous little face somehow getting cheekier by the minute. 🌷🦋

Some babies make me work for a smile. Aaliyah basically handed me an entire gallery of expressions and dared me to keep up. 😂📸 She was funny, confident, animated and ridiculously entertaining from start to finish.

Safe to say, the butterflies brought the pretty... but Aaliyah brought the party. 🎉💗 And THIS is exactly why I love photographing one-year-olds.
