When you first float the idea of opening a business, people tell you it's about providing a service to a community and the possibility of making some money. What they don't tell you about is the relationships you make along the way. The staff that become family, the customers who become friends, the community groups, schools, events and sporting teams you can sponsor and donate to.
You become part of a community and the community becomes part of you.
What a ride the last 22 years have been. For the majority of our time, we've loved every twist and turn.
When we first decided to sell, we could only dream that someone would come in and keep the bakery legacy alive. Our chapters in the bakery story are now ended, but the new chapters in the story are pretty exciting. I've read a few pages ahead and you're in for a treat.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Clarence Town. You embraced us from the beginning and although we're sad to leave I think the man who hasn't slept since 1985 is in need of a well earned rest.
