I feel it is important to address a social media post that was forwarded to me on 10 September 2026.
I am extremely disheartened by the content of the post, particularly given that the circumstances presented do not accurately reflect what occurred.
I consider myself to be a caring, compassionate and respectful person. I work as a support worker and have proudly operated my cake business since 2019. Throughout both my professional and business dealings, I have always endeavoured to conduct myself with honesty, professionalism and respect.
On this occasion, I received an order request for cupcakes for R U OK? Day, with delivery requested to an organisation in Charters Towers. After considering the circumstances, I made the decision that I was not comfortable proceeding with the order. I communicated that decision appropriately and professionally.
As a business owner, I am entitled to make reasonable decisions about the customers and orders I accept, provided those decisions comply with applicable laws. I do not believe I am required to publicly justify every business decision I make, particularly where doing so could create unnecessary conflict or compromise my personal or business boundaries.
There are always two sides to every story, and I believe it is unfair for conclusions to be drawn from one version of events without knowing the full circumstances.
Those who know me personally know that I am a direct person. I will always speak honestly and stand up for myself when necessary. However, I do not make a habit of belittling, attacking or slandering others, and I have no intention of engaging in an unnecessary public argument.
I will not be drawn into a public dispute or respond to allegations with further allegations. I simply want to make it clear that statements or accusations made about me or my business that are untrue do not represent what actually occurred.
I have worked hard since 2019 to build my business and maintain a positive reputation within my community. I will continue to conduct myself professionally and respectfully, and I reserve my rights in relation to any statements concerning me or my business that are false, misleading or potentially damaging to my reputation.
My actions and the way I conduct myself speak for themselves.
To all of my wonderful customers, friends, family and supporters, thank you for your continued support, trust and understanding. It is genuinely appreciated.
