5th - 12th July is NAIDOC Week. 🖤💛❤️ “50 Years of NAIDOC”

We’re deadly at Rusty Lane, it’s true, and we do a lot of funny stuff, but this post is important to me, so jokes aside I wanted to acknowledge NAIDOC Week and what it means to us. A time reflect, not only on the world’s oldest continuing culture, but what 50 years of strength, resilience and determination can achieve.

In 50 years - to name just a few - Native Title, MABO, Acknowledgment of the Stolen Generations, stronger community-controlled health services, the revival of traditional languages, and greater opportunities to represent in sports, arts, parliament and media 🤯

Things we take for granted today like access to housing, education, fair work, health care and protective services. I am 43yrs old, so 50 years doesn’t seem like a long time ago (😆 for me).

These achievements remind us how far we’ve come and how much can be accomplished when understanding, truth and respect lead the way 💜

Rusty Lane is a proud Aboriginal-owned, small family business. It is our way of sharing culture, serving our community, and creating a place where everyone feels at home.

Here’s to our children, the next generation, the next 50 years and the legacy we choose to leave behind.
