1st Beechboro West Swan Scout Group Beechboro Scout Group currently have Joeys aged 5-8, Cubs aged 8-11 & Scouts aged 11-14.

Joeys - 5 to 8 years: Tuesdays 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Cubs - 8 to 11 years: Wednesday 6.30pm - 8pm
Scouts - 11 to 15 years: Thursday 7pm - 9pm

🌙 Nighthawk 2026

Over the weekend, four of our Scouts and one Venturer took part in Nighthawk 2026, the annual overnight navigation and hiking challenge.

Our Scouts set off at 7:12pm, navigating their way between activity bases where they completed challenges to earn points along the way. All four of our Scouts successfully completed the course, making it back into camp at around 2:30am — so it was no surprise that we had a few tired faces the next morning!

While the Scouts were out navigating, our Venturer was also involved in the event, helping out at Golf Base.

Despite the late night and plenty of kilometres covered, everyone came away having enjoyed the experience.

A big thank you to the Nighthawk organisers and activity teams for putting together another great event, and to our leaders who gave their time to make sure our youth could take part. ⚜️

It was a week of navigation for both our Cubs and Scouts — with two very different challenges!

🥬 Cubs had some very specific requests during their planning: they joked about wanting to find a baby and a head. So, in the true spirit of youth-led, adult-supported Scouting… we complied. 😄

Hidden around their navigation course were heads of lettuce and cabbage, along with the assorted body parts of a baby doll! Using their navigation skills, teamwork and torches, the Cubs had to track down the lot.

🗺️ Scouts tackled a more traditional orienteering course, navigating their way around in the dark using maps and compasses.

They also had an unexpected visitor along the way — a Southern Boobook owl watching proceedings from a nearby fence. 🦉

From hunting cabbage heads and baby parts to tackling an orienteering course, the same navigation skills can be scaled to challenge each section at the right level. 🧭⚜️

Hopefully later this term we'll be able to harvest our crop!
