Happy Sunday sourdough fans!

This week we’re introducing our new Garage Cafe customers to a couple of fan favourites…Jalapeño & Cheddar 🌶️🧀, and Turmeric & Cracked Pepper.

Also, super excited to announce a new collab with Proserpine’s own Italy at Home. Starting this week you’ll be able to add on a sourdough with your weekly Proserpine pick up of authentic, homemade Italian goodness!

In other news, my trusty flour producer has unfortunately stopped their organic range. I’ve got a new organic flour lined up, but there will be a couple of days later in the week where I’m using Premium Sustainable flour while I wait for the new one to arrive. Every flour behaves slightly differently so bear with me while I figure it out, and fingers crossed for no major disasters 🤞😅

Delicious by itself, with butter, or if you really want to ramp up the Friday decadence why not top it with a bit of cream cheese or mascarpone and a drizzle of honey (or Nutella) 🫢🤤

Hey sourdough fans!

Seeing as humble crumb pantry has been popping up on your feeds for almost a year now, I figured it was about time I actually introduced myself!

Hi, I’m Lucy 👋 Originally from Scotland, then New Zealand, I’ve called the beautiful Whitsundays home for the past 14 years.

I’m a wife, mum to three little boys, and chief wrangler of two dogs and eight chickens. 😂

After having our youngest son, I knew I wanted to find an alternative to returning to my mining job. But, as I’m sure a lot of you can relate to, finding woyrk that fits around a young family and a partner who works away isn’t exactly easy. (Unless you’re tech-savvy, which I can assure you I am definitely not! )

I’ve always loved baking, and after spotting a gap in the local sourdough market, I decided to give it a crack. I got my food licence, rolled up my sleeves and set about learning how to make sourdough.

There were months of learning, sooooo many fails (oh, SO many 😅), and more than a few moments where I wondered if maybe this just wasn’t for me. But eventually, I got there!

And thanks to this beautiful little community, look how far we’ve come in less than a year. From baking two loaves at a time in my regular kitchen oven to investing in a proper bread oven and baking 12 loaves at a time.

It honestly means more than you know.

So, the next time you pick up one of my loaves from Espresso and Bloom, Airlie Health Hub - Organic Bulk foods or The Garage by The Roaming Cup, know that you’re getting authentic, honest, handmade sourdough, made with plenty of love. But more than that, you’re supporting a small local business, a mum trying to make it work around her family, and a dream that’s grown bigger than I ever imagined.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of the humble crumb journey. My family and I are so grateful for every single one of you. 🥰🍞❤️

Super excited to say that from Tuesday, you’ll be able to get fresh, baked that day, authentic, artisan sourdough made the traditional way.

Flour, salt, water and time.

No shortcuts. Shaped by hand, proofed for days and baked in a stone oven.

Available daily from your very own Garage Cafe from 8am - The Garage by The Roaming Cup

The menu changes weekly so keep your eyes peeled on our socials but here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store for week one…

Our Organic White will be available daily. Also making appearances will be Rye, Seeded, Chorizo & Feta, and Blueberry & Lemon 👀
