A little trip down memory lane to 2021, when FNQ Food Magazine featured our story celebrating 85 years of Manning’s Pies.

From humble beginnings in 1936 to becoming a much-loved part of Far North Queensland, it’s been quite a journey — and we’re proud to have generations of the Manning family behind it.

🍞 The Daily Bread at Manning’s

There’s some serious flour power happening behind the scenes!

Our dedicated baking team produces around 400 loaves of fresh, preservative-free bread and 600 rolls every day, baked right here onsite.

And they’re not working alone — our trusty 1950s oven is still going strong, turning out beautiful bread six days a week.

We get through around three pallets of flour every fortnight and make approximately 8 tonnes of dough every month.

That’s a lotta bread… and that’s before we count the pies! 🥧

For 90 years, families, mates and workmates have been having this very debate. Around kitchen tables. At the footy. On smoko. Pulled over on road trips. Some traditions never change.

And that's exactly what makes them special.

As we celebrate 90 years of Manning's, we're not just celebrating pies. We're celebrating the little moments that become lifelong memories, and the conversations that come with them.

📸 Throwback to the 1960s on Collins Avenue! 🥧✨

Check out these incredible throwback photos from our family archives!

Back in the mid-1960s, our pie factory was located on Collins Avenue in Edge Hill. The Manning family actually lived upstairs right above the bakery, making it a true home-grown family enterprise where work, family, and pie-making went hand-in-hand.

Look closely at the delivery lineup:
🚐 The iconic vehicles, including the vintage van fitted with the famous "STOP ME FOR PIES" roof sign!
🚚 The classic Toyota delivery truck loaded up and ready for
"HOT PIES" runs across Cairns!
👦 Little Manning family members and neighborhood kids posing out front with their toy trucks and a skateboard, growing up right in the heart of the business!

Fast forward to today—Manning’s Pies is officially celebrating 90 YEARS in Cairns! From Hector and Dulcie starting out in 1936 to four generations keeping the local legend alive, every step of this journey has been made possible by our amazing Far North Queensland community.
