It has been a wonderful time away with my family in NZ. Much needed downtime. We’ve relaxed, adventured, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company. As the kids get older and more independent, I realise just how little time we have left with them. Soon they will be off on their own adventures. These times are so important for our little family. We really only have a couple more summers left with these precious two. I have made the big decision to focus more on my family and less on cakes this year. It has been coming for a while but this year it is so undeniably present within me and I cannot silence it anymore. Some cakes will be made (don’t panic if you have already booked!) but not nearly as many. 2026 will be a year a year of self care and focus on what truly matters in life (cake is part of it but it’s not everything 😉🍰).

Hello, lovelies! Just a quick note to let you know that I am closed this January. I will not be making any cakes and I may be slow to respond to emails. I’m covered in paint, up and down ladders, working long hours on renovations, and thoroughly exhausted. Soon I’ll be heading off for some well deserved R&R and will do my best to reply to your enquiries between travel days. Being a small business owner is rewarding but it is full of challenges and the juggle is never ending. I appreciate your patience, as always. I do my best to keep up. Love to all 💝

And suddenly it’s Christmas!! What the??!! 😱. Where did that year go? Wishing every one of you a safe and peaceful festive season.

This is Carol, the Festive Chicken with a daggy Christmas Sweater. I made her for the ’s end of year Christmas gathering. Anyone who has picked up a cake from me would most certainly have met my girls from . Once they were stuffed into a 1m x 1m x 1m cage with 5 other hens and housed in a giant warehouse where they pumped out eggs in horrible conditions. When they reached 18 months of age and their egg production decreased a little they were to be culled along with 60,000 other hens. That is until Julie and her team came along and rescued as many as they could rehome. 10,000 chooks have been given the gift of freedom by this amazing organisation!! My girls are now living their best lives, free ranging, happy and healthy. People like Julie, and everyone who makes this work possible, renew my faith in humanity and kindness. That is why I have started volunteering for them! If you would like to join me get in touch with Julie via The Who Gives A Cluck website. And if you would like to adopt some chickens and become a Mother Clucker you can fill out a form on the website too. Oh!
