Apparently we’re doing travelling pies now. 🥧📸

Yesterday we got a potato pie enjoying the river.
Today the Peking Duck has made it all the way to Maroochydore. 😂

So I guess this is a thing now.

Local duck, Chinese spices & rich hoisin gravy.

🥧 Smoked Salmon Bennie
Smoked salmon, egg, hollandaise & cheese. Breakfast got itself a pastry jacket.

Both are in the cabinet NOW until sold out.

No promises on how long they’ll last. We’ve seen how you people behave. 😂

MEET THE DUCKS 🦆 | JAMES

Next up is one of the faces you probably don’t see very often… James, one of our bakers.

James is 32, grew up on Bribie and has been baking since he was just 14. That’s more than 18 years in the trade, originally getting into it through what he very proudly describes as “nepotism.” 😂

James was already part of Blackduck when we took over, or as he puts it, “I was bought with the bakery.”

Most nights, while the rest of Burpengary is asleep, James is here running almost entirely on caffeine, pushing buttons (apparently that’s all baking is after 18 years) and working to fill the shop for the morning.

He’s a man of simple pleasures. His favourite Blackduck product is our Honey Mustard Danish, he genuinely enjoys his job, and what he gets up to outside work has been officially censored. 😂

We don’t see nearly as much of James as the rest of the team because our days are his nights, but he’s one of those people working behind the scenes who helps make sure there’s a bakery full of food waiting when the doors open.

That’s James. 18 years a baker, caffeine powered, slightly questionable, and apparently now part of the fixtures and fittings. 🦆

When the customer takes a better photo of your pie than you do… 😂🥧

Then casually drops “one of the tastiest pies I’ve had in Australia” in the review.

Look at that thing. Big chunks of meat, rich gravy, flaky pastry. No fancy food styling required. Just someone absolutely demolishing a Blackduck pie.
