Sherwood Park Orchard is an apple and cherry orchard situated on the outskirts of Bunyip in the beautiful countryside and gateway to Gippsland. The Bakery Café is a vibrant and busy farmgate operating from our retail barn building 7 days a week.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Duty Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our busy café, takeaway and seasonal produce retail area.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in presentation and customer service, and is confident taking responsibility for a team and a shift.
About the role
As Duty Manager, you will be the senior person on site during your shift and will work closely with the owner to ensure the café and retail areas operate smoothly and professionally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the café restaurant and takeaway service.
- Leading, supporting and directing staff during each shift.
- Providing exceptional customer service and handling customer enquiries and issues.
- Monitoring and ordering café, takeaway and retail stock.
- Maintaining attractive, well-stocked displays of seasonal fruit and local produce.
- Ensuring high standards of food quality, cleanliness, presentation and food safety.
- Managing opening and closing procedures.
- Monitoring wastage, stock levels and operational requirements.
Rostering and payroll will be managed by the owner in consultation with the Duty Manager.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous hospitality, café, restaurant or retail experience.
- Has experience supervising or leading a team.
- Is confident making decisions and taking ownership of a shift.
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Is organised, reliable and able to remain calm during busy periods.
- Takes pride in cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail.
- Is genuinely hands-on and willing to jump in wherever needed.
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys creating a great experience for customers and staff.
