Good morning, world!
WHAT A WEEK! Lent* start week and I took that opportunity to stop drinking coffee altogether. The first few days were the hardest (like usual), but I am already seeing so many positive results! If you have an office job you may know of the mid-afternoon crash, and at about 2:30pm everyday I was struggling to keep my eyes open as I sat at my computer. In the last few business days I have seen a dramatic decrease in mid-afternoon fatigue, IN FACT I feel energised all day π
I didn't do much baking last week but I did do my meal prep which has been bomb so far! (By the way, WHY can we still not upload videos and photos together on Facebook?!)
In order of appearance: Lamb shank Massaman curry, beer and bacon Mac & Cheese, Chinese style roast chicken (Chinese five spice, star anise, orange, sage, and Chinese cooking wine & water), lasagne, vegetable pie (one for me and one for the lovely Janette).
I love meal prep! It saves me money because I'm not going back and forth to the shops, and it save some time because I don't have to cook every night. The only con might be that your meal prep day is a long and tiring day, however, you could split it up into two days π
*Lent is a liturgical season leading up to Easter. It is 40 days of fasting and prayer, and an important time for the Church to grow in faith and relationship with God. While Lent has become a little commercialised (look up 'Mark Wahlberg's 40 day challenge' ππ) Lent is a serious time of prayer and repentance, contemplation and worship, fasting, purification and restraint all to prepare for the season of Easter which is arguably the MOST IMPORTANT and most solemn season for the Church.
Lent is kicked off with Ash Wednesday. You may have seen people walking around with crosses on their forehead? The Priests burn the palms and branches from last year's Palm Sunday and use the ashes from that. This is a visual signal/message to the world that we are Christians, and that we fasting and mourning because we are sinners. The Universal Church goes into a day of fasting on Ash Wednesday.
