Victoria Police advises the search for armed offender Desmond Freeman (Filby) continues.

To support this, the Mount Buffalo National Park will remain closed for a further period of time. We will advise when this is no longer the case.

Given the extensive searches undertaken since 26 August, the advice to avoid travelling to Porepunkah has been lifted.

The Great Alpine Road is now open all the way through Porepunkah to Bright.

However, Victoria Police advises those in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to Triple Zero (000) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The community will still see an increased police presence in and around the area.
