A very early start for us today! We hit the road just after midnight and headed to Wollongong for the Wollongong Bread Show, hoping to bring home a few awards for the little bakery we’re so proud to call home here in Blayney.

With over 60 entrants, we were absolutely blown away to hear Hutchison’s Bakehouse called out 16 times, receiving awards across 13 categories. Then came the biggest surprise of the day… being named Most Successful Bread Exhibitor Overall! To bring that award back to our little country bakery is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Someone commented when we shared the news, “We’ll have to come and try this fancy award-winning bread!” The funny thing is… it’s not fancy bread at all. It’s the same bread that’s on our shelves every morning, baked fresh for our community. The products judged today are the very same ones our customers take home every day.

This recognition belongs to our amazing bakers. While most people are still asleep, they’re already hard at work mixing, shaping and baking to make sure our shelves are full each morning. Their dedication, skill and passion are what made today possible, and we’re so grateful for everything they do.

And finally, thank you to everyone who chooses to support our little bakery. Every loaf, pie, cake and coffee you buy helps make achievements like this possible. We’re incredibly proud to be part of such a wonderful community, and we can’t wait to see you in store tomorrow. 🍞🥯🥐👌

Unfortunately sickness has affected most of our available staff this week.

As a small business, we don’t have an excessive number of staff available to call upon when illness occurs. We will still be open, but we’ll be operating with a very limited team, so there may be longer wait times than usual.

We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and respect toward the staff members who are available and doing their best to keep things running.

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years in Business! 🎉

Ten years ago, in 2016, we took a leap of faith without really knowing what we were getting ourselves into.

Denise, being a city girl, had no idea where Blayney even was, let alone what life here would have in store. But that didn’t stop us from taking the chance to buy our own business. For Matt, who has only ever known baking, the decision came a little easier.

Back then, we were just a young family with our little boy, Tate, who was only 3 years old, chasing a dream and hoping we’d made the right decision.

Just 18 months into our new adventure, our family grew again as we welcomed our youngest son, Kye. Running a business while raising two young boys certainly kept us on our toes, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Fast forward 10 years, and what a journey it has been.

We’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful locals who quickly became much more than customers. Blayney welcomed us with open arms, and before long, this little town became our home, our community, and a huge part of who we are.

Over the years, we’ve watched not only our own family grow, but also our incredible team and their families. We’ve built lifelong friendships, strong partnerships, and countless memories that we’ll always treasure.

One of our biggest goals was to own the building we called home. In 2019, that dream became a reality, and it’s the place you all know today. It’s something we’re incredibly proud of and a reminder that hard work, determination, and community support really do pay off.

People often ask if we’d ever leave Blayney. The answer is simple—we couldn’t. This town is our heart and soul.

Maybe one day we’ll branch out and grow beyond our little corner of the world, but no matter where the future takes us, our roots will always be here in Blayney.

To every customer who’s supported us, every staff member who’s been part of our journey, every supplier, every local business, and everyone who’s simply stopped in for a chat—thank you. Your support has allowed us to grow our business, raise our family, and build a life we truly love.

Here’s to the last 10 years, to the memories we’ve made, and to many more years of serving the community that has supported us every step of the way. ❤️🥖🎉
