Obsession of the month (possibly even the year so far!). The votes are in and I swear every second cake I make appears to be of the lemon meringue variety!

People can't get enough of the punchy bright lemon curd, the silky smooth buttercream, the moist vanilla cake with zesty lemon and of course... the clouds of meringue toasted on top!

A bit of morning tea baked yesterday to celebrate the wonderful volunteers at Great Ocean Road Health in Apollo Bay.

I made flourless chocolate wattleseed cake and lemon myrtle yoyos - two native flavours that I love baking with, not only because they taste amazing but because they grow connections and start conversations about the unique flavours in this land.

Wattleseed has beautiful warming coffee/choc flavours, and lemon myrtle gives the freshest citrusy flavour and aroma. They are such special ingredients and I love being able to incorporate more Australian native flavours into my baking where I can.

For me, baking can be more than just making something sweet. I love that using ethically sourced native ingredients helps support First Nations growers and producers, celebrate's what is naturally grown here, and creates a connection between food, community and caring for the places around us.

It felt really fitting to share these special bakes to celebrate people who spend so much of their time caring for others in our community.

A big thank you to all the volunteers at for everything you do!

How's this for a transformation?!

I have had a number of vintage inspired heart cake orders recently and I think this one takes the cake so far 😉

Beneath all the swiss meringue buttercream is actually a moist, spiced carrot cake... sooo yummy!

From the customers mouths "The cake looked amazing. None left - speaks for itself!"

Repeat after me: proteas are NOT a native plant. Banksias, however, are. And they are stunning.

The request was a buttercream floral birthday cake with native flower twist, which gave me the opportunity to play around with some piping tips and create a firewood banksia (Banksia menziesii), eucalypt blossom and everlasting daisies.

Bright, floral, chocolatey and delicious - with a native Australian twist.

CLASSIC TIRAMISU - layers of Savoiardi sponge fingers soaked in espresso & Tia Maria, rich and creamy mascarpone custard - a perfect nightcap/indulgence.

LEMON MERINGUE - A favourite for a reason. Fresh, light, bright and zesty - special and delicious.

Made in small batches and ready to dig into. So she doesnt have to make anything herself this year.
