However, please don't hesitate to contact us even if your request is not within the time frame. Welcome to Fabulicious Bakes and this is my story! My earliest memories of baking were helping out my mum make birthday cakes for my brothers and myself and fruit cakes, cookies and sweet treats at Christmas. It was couple of years after I got married and my husband and I moved to Dubai, I started cooking and baking on my own. I started experimenting with recipes I downloaded off the internet and by making long distance calls to my mum in India for the secret family recipes passed over by my grandmother to her. Having a hubby with a very healthy appetite who loved to eat helped me hone my skills further. You see I was told that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and it proved to be true in my case. I made my first cake – a princess cake with home-made fondant using a recipe I got off the internet. I did not know what fondant felt like or tasted like but knew that I could mould it and that it would make the cake look pretty. It took a lot of muscling but in the end I did it. It was not perfect and had little holes and tears but the look of awe on the hubby’s face made my day. It took several cake “experiments” on my family and it finally dawned on me that I do have a passion for baking and decorating. My family and friends have given me a lot of encouragement and advised me to do this as a business and not just a hobby.
