Today, on , RA International reaffirms its commitment to sustainable water management. As a global leader in integrated support services, we recognize the critical importance of water in our operations and in the communities we serve.
Depleted aquifers pose a serious threat to water access in many of the areas in which we operate, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions such as Somalia and South Sudan where communities and businesses rely heavily on groundwater. Climate change, population growth, and unsustainable water management practices are exacerbating the situation. According to the United Nations, it's estimated that by 2030, Africa could face a water deficit of up to 25%. Such a shortfall will have multiple impacts on human health, agriculture, and stability within the region.
At RA, we strive to minimize our water footprint. Efforts include greywater recycling, fostering responsible behaviour amongst our staff and clients, and investing in washing machines and dishwashing machines with incorporate water efficient technologies. We have also taken proactive steps to mitigate our reliance on bottled water by installing reverse osmosis facilities. These facilities treat borehole water to WHO standards, significantly reducing our environmental impact by steering away from single-use plastics and curtailing the emissions associated with the entire lifecycle of bottled water.
While water will always be required in our operations, we are keenly aware of its scarcity and the need to demonstrate responsible consumption practices.
