THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR WEEKEND β POMEROY FARM ππ₯
This weekend, our Beresh*th Johannesburg team made the journey down to Pomeroy Farm to minister to the men in our recovery programme β and what a powerful weekend it was!
The highlight was witnessing men make a public declaration of their faith through water baptism.
Baptism is far more than simply going into the water. It is a powerful picture of what Jesus Christ does in a surrendered life.
Romans 6:4 says:
"Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
As these men went into the water, it represented the burying of the old man β the old identity, the old ways, the bo***ge, the shame, the destructive choices and the life that once held them captive.
And as they came up out of the water, they were declaring:
βThe old me is buried. I am rising into a new life in Christ!β
This carries such deep significance in the journey of recovery.
Recovery is not merely about stopping a substance. It is about transformation. It is about allowing God to restore the mind, rebuild character, heal relationships, renew purpose and establish a completely different way of living.
The water becomes a powerful symbol:
π§ Going down β surrender.
π§ Going under β burial of the old life.
π§ Coming up β resurrection and newness.
π§ Walking forward β a new journey with Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
We don't believe that a person's past has the final word over their future.
At Beresh*th, we believe that Jesus Christ can take a broken life and give it purpose again.
These men are not defined by addiction.
They are not defined by their mistakes.
They are not defined by their past.
They are sons. They are redeemed. They are being restored. They have a future.
And this weekend, some of them stood before God, their fellow brothers and the people who have walked alongside them and declared publicly:
βI choose Christ. I choose life. I choose a new beginning.β
What a privilege it is for our Johannesburg team to travel to Pomeroy and stand alongside these men as they continue this journey of restoration.
From Johannesburg to Pomeroy β one mission, one Kingdom, one God.
We celebrate every man who took this step of faith.
The old man has been buried.
A new man is rising.
And the journey continues. π₯
