PUTTING THE PIECES BACK TOGETHER WITH GOLD.....✨️
As we come to the end of Women’s Month in South Africa, our very own woman of substance, Adri Williams, recently attended a powerful Women’s Month event hosted by Wesgro, in the company of many incredible women, some of whom were speakers at the event......where one message resonated deeply with her.
South Africa has a history of inequality and systems that left many parts of our society broken and divided... did you know that only in 1984 were woman allowed to open their own bank account or buy property without the permission of their husband or father?
But perhaps our role as women today is not simply to look back at those broken pieces....but to pick them up, put them back together, and fill the cracks with gold....Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold rather than having its cracks hidden, the message was a powerful one:
We don't have to erase the cracks in our past. We can transform them into something stronger, more beautiful and more valuable....and that responsibility extends far beyond simply having women represented in positions of leadership.
➡️It is about being the best we can be in those positions.
➡️It is about opening doors for other women.
➡️It is about mentoring and coaching the next generation.
➡️It is about investing in our youth so that they have the skills, confidence and opportunities to become tomorrow’s workforce and leaders.
Here at Khayelitsha Cookies....we see every day what happens when opportunity is created.
Our 90 odd incredible women are not simply employees. They are breadwinners, mothers, daughters, leaders and role models...women who are building better futures for their families and communities through the dignity of meaningful employment.
And perhaps that is what putting the pieces back together really looks like...

➡️One open door at a time.
Because when women lift one another up, the impact reaches far beyond one person.
It becomes a ripple that can help rebuild communities and shape a stronger South Africa for generations to come. 💚🧡🇿🇦
