Our Story
EVP (Etes-Vous Prets?!) Coffee is a local, independent & woman-owned business that opened in October of 1997 on Highland Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin. Over 20 years later, EVP now has 5 vibrant locations & roasts over 30,000 pounds of coffee each year. Each of our shops has its own unique feel and character. KINDNESS AND LOVE Our owner, Tracy Danner, founded EVP in 1997 with the intention of building community and spreading the love through a great cup of coffee! EVP (Etes Vous Prets) means Are Your Ready? in French and was inspired by Tracy’s time as a coxswain with the UW women’s rowing team back in the day. Etes Vous Prets was the starting command before every rowing race and her shops embody the hard-working, relentless spirit of teamwork and serving each other! Our Baristas carry this mentality through building unique relationships with our customers and take pride in making your “usual” made before you even step to the counter! Our intention since we opened has been to serve all people beautifully, and in the spirit of kindness and love. We aim to serve our community with honesty and accountability & to be stewards of our environment through composting and other initiatives.
FRESH ROASTING We roast daily at our location on East Washington Ave and have over 25 flavors to choose from. That includes our signature Campfire blend and numerous organic and fair trade roasts made with LOVE :)! It’s all made possible by our Sivetz Air Roaster, which is unique just like us.
FRESH BAKERY Our experienced, fun-loving group of bakers (who occasionally have a dance party or two in the back) mix and match doughs to create scones, muffins, breads, soups, salads, wraps, and chai. All homemade, all healthy, and even more delicious! You can even watch it all happen through our window to the world!
