Well, that’s a wrap. 😅

14 hours done. In this heat. Nearly passed out on several occasions, but apparently dehydration and delirium are all part of the catering experience 🥵😂

One full day of service followed by what felt like an endless buffet marathon for the Skipton Girls’ and Ermysted’s Prom 2026 at East Riddlesden Hall. 💃✨

I’m convinced we’ve fed half of Yorkshire and sweated out the other half 🤦‍♀️🤣

Massive congratulations to all the prom-goers - you all looked fabulous! Meanwhile, I’ll be spending approximately six hours horizontal before heading back into the bakery tomorrow morning to smash out yet more. Because apparently sleep is just a hobby. 😜

And a huge thank you to my amazing team of LCB Ladies for being absolute legends as always. Couldn’t do it without you girls. ❤️🙌

Every week, our small family team hand makes thousands of pies that end up on the shelves and counters of cafés, delis, sandwich shops, butchers and farm shops across Lancashire and Yorkshire.

We’re not a huge factory with endless departments. We’re a family business with a small, hardworking team who genuinely care about every pie that leaves our bakery.

We use quality ingredients, make our pies properly filled (because nobody enjoys the disappointment of an empty pie!), and we’re proud to have won awards along the way.

Today’s highlight was attempting to pick the bread trays up off the floor. That, my friends, was the final straw. I nearly had to send thoughts and prayers to my own hamstrings. 🤣

So if yesterday wasn’t painful enough… our cake counter fridge has apparently decided that it needs a tropical holiday. 🥵🌴

After a year of loyal service and just as its warranty expired, our fridge is currently refusing to fridge.

Fear not! No pies or tarts have been harmed in this unfolding tragedy. Everything has been swiftly rescued and relocated to the safety of the kitchen fridges:

🥧 Pork pies? Safe.
🥧 Meat pies? Safe.
🥧 Custard tarts & fruit pies? Safe.
🥧 Me? Hanging on by a thread and ugly crying about life!

Please just ask one of the lovely LCB Ladies and they’ll happily fetch whatever you fancy.

What a Monday. 🤦‍♀️

I wasn’t meant to be in work today… which somehow translated into me being in work today.

Chaos as usual:
☕ Grumpy Graeme delivery
😄 Jolly John delivery
🚚 The fresh food delivery guy (who is somehow a different person every single week)
🥤The bottom fell out of the milkshake blender. With milkshake in it 🤦‍♀️
🫗A can of Coke popped & exploded with enough force to qualify as a crime scene.
🏋️‍♀️And because I clearly hadn’t suffered enough, I went to my first Legs, Bums and Tums class at Flacks. I genuinely saw my life flash before my eyes. Walking downstairs afterwards on jelly legs was a humbling experience and I’m fairly sure I’ve aged 20 years.

And speaking of death… I came home last night to discover my beloved Dumpy Dave had met an untimely end after apparently attempting to inhale a cricket whole. Everyone I’ve confided in has laughed because “he’s only a frog”. Excuse you, he was a living being and I loved that grumpy little amphibian. 💔🐸

RIP Dave. Gone but not forgotten.

So if anyone needs me, I’ll be under my duvet for the rest of the day, avoiding people and waiting to see what fresh nonsense Tuesday has planned.

The wait is finally over… Stables Pies are BACK! 🥧🎉

After taking a well-earned break to welcome a brand-new little pie-maker into the family, the Stables crew are back!

Jolly John will once again be gracing the bakery with his legendary cheesy grin, the pies return to the shelves and happiness returns to the people.

We’ve missed you, Stables. More than is probably healthy.

Deliciousness resumes tomorrow 🫶🏻

Well… what a week that was! 🥹🥂

Our first year is officially done and dusted, and honestly, where on earth did that go?! One minute we were opening the doors, the next we’re celebrating our first birthday surrounded by the most amazing customers.

A huge thank you to everyone who popped in, brought cards and gifts, sent messages and showered us with so much love. You’ve had me on the verge of tears all week. (Anyone who knows me knows I cry at a good sandwich, so the bar isn’t exactly high 😂)

To my Bakery Beauties… what can I say? You are the absolute dream team. The laughs, the chaos, the early mornings, the last-minute disasters and the endless support. You always have my back and I’d be completely winging it without you. ❤️

Right, enough of the emotional nonsense before I start blubbing again.

I’m off to celebrate Year One the only way I know how… with a few proseccos and absolutely no alarm set for tomorrow 🥂💃
