What was originally meant to celebrate both her birthday and 1 year in remission became something much heavier after her family learned that her cancer had returned just weeks before her party.
Even so, Lucia chose joy. 💜 She celebrated and She smiled. And according to her mom, she had the best birthday ever.
Being trusted with moments like these is something I never take lightly. Cake may seem small in the grand scheme of life, but sometimes a birthday cake becomes part of a memory a family holds onto forever.
Lucia requested a purple and black Kuromi cake. The beautiful topper was created by Dolly Craft Co., who also sweetly gifted Lucia a Kuromi piggy bank.
