Thought you guys might like to see what we have been celebrating lately and the reason Scott and I are selling our home to move closer to this bundle of pure joy. Meet Edwin - our first grandchild.
We are so close. Only 2 more days until Christmas House starts. I'm so excited to be featured for the tea room. I hope you all come visit us. We'll be there Wednesday and Thursday Dec 1 & 2 from 10 am to 5 pm. Friday, 10 -6, Saturday 10 -7 and Sunday 12 to 5. We have a lot of fun activities happening throughout the week including Mrs Claus Saturday and Santa arriving at 3:30 Saturday. Fall starts next week so I can't make Saturday my last day of setup at Rooted Trading Co without sharing one of my favorite things about Fall. Pumpkin is the quentisential flavor of the season so I'll be offering these scrummy Pumpkin Spice Scones.. I hope you will come by and have the first taste of Fall on my last day. It's been a busy day baking some new treats for this week's sale. I'll be bringing Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies, Apricot Cukrovi, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars and 3 different kinds of baked hand pies... Peach, Blueberry and Cherry. There's also glazed donuts in either chocolate or vanilla. All this plus my regular items of cookies, brownies, lemon tea cakes, and more. Looking forward to everyone.

Today's breakfast is a rare treat. Homemade strawberry scones with homemade clotted cream (the real thing here) and of course strawberry jam. These are so light and fluffy and full of flavor. The strawberries added a wonderful level of moisture. The clotted cream, well there are no exact words. This cream is so beautifully creamy and buttery and just melts in your mouth.

So my clotted cream is out of the oven and cooled for 1 hour. See all the golden color...? That's good. That's what needs to happen. This is the butter fat that has come to the surface. So I have covered the dish with plastic wrap and in the fridge over night.

I am Becky Edwards, a baker, a soap maker, entrepreneur, housewife and mom. I am an avid rescue dog lover and promoter. I am also an introvert who loves to sew, quilt and craft anything by hand. If I can make it, I do. Just don’t ask me to knit.
I was born in Cleveland Ohio and raised in a small community called Garfield Heights. Although my mom was not a baker, we did spend some time throughout the year making Christmas cookies or other baked goods for friends, family or church gatherings. I believe my greatest influence, however, stems from my great uncle Ed who was indeed a baker himself and passed his Czechoslovakian influence on to me.
Along with my uncle, I have also been influenced by family traditions. One such tradition comes from my maternal grandmother who used to bake Christmas cookies for all her grandchildren. She would package dozens of cookies in large tin cans for each child and every year, we would receive our gifts in the mail. Because of this childhood memory, I find this as a key element in my passion to create something special for others to enjoy.
It’s traditions like this that influence my baking and how I approach and develop my personal style which I call “Rustic Comfort”. Even with the influence of my family, I don’t limit my creativity to family traditions alone. My Rustic Comfort style also includes my husband’s traditions which are rooted in English baking. I have also gained knowledge of baking through my experiences at local restaurants and bakeries.
I am always looking to learn new techniques to expand my skills and as a small business owner, my passion and creativity drive me to develop new products.
For more than 30 years, I have dreamed of owning a bakery. I think I have driven my husband insane with how much I talk about that dream. Mrs. Edwards Bakery is a recently new business that I started in my home kitchen. After a couple of years of failed attempts at trying to start a home-based bakery, I decided to start a handmade soap business instead. I still currently own and operate Birdie’s Soap Nest from my home and just recently was able to start Mrs. Edwards Bakery in my home as well. My goal is to have a farmhouse style bakery that also includes a gift shop that offers only local handmade gifts.
