Option 2: Individual egg decorating kits. A frosted egg (you choose the color). Piping bag of icing and lots of sprinkles. $4

This might get kind of long because I didn’t get last weeks cookies posted. I found another shelf stable cookie mix and made 2 different kinds. The chocolate ones were good, but kind of dense. The oatmeal ones needed a lot more spice and some vanilla. I shared them with my nephew and his work friends.
For St. Patrick’s Day I made Mint Swirl Brownies and Blarney Stone Bars. Both were delicious. I messed up the recipe for the Blarney Stone Bars and deflated my egg whites so they were a little flat. But they tasted good. I will make these again and be more careful. I shared these with the staff in Urology at the clinic and my control Group at the Center.

I have a confession to make. I struggle with chocolate chip cookies. My oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are amazing, but a regular chocolate chip cookie not so much. They taste good, but are flat and weird. This week I tried 2 chocolate chip recipes from the cookie book. Both tasted good , but the sweet chocolate ones were flat and spread too much I shared these with a friend who was not feeling well and grandson Mack The Chocolate Chippers one was Mack’s favorite by far. He took several home and I’m pretty sure he did not share. Next week some special bars for St Patrick Day.

We are into the brownie section of the cookie book. I see every where on the internet people making shelf stable mixes and when I found this recipe, I wanted to try it. This recipe makes 5 8x8 pans. I shared them with Kelly and Molly at The Cutting Crew. They loved them because they were not too sweet and were chewy and chocolatey. Pretty basic, but you could add all kinds of add ins. One note, don’t try to cut in the shortening with a mixer! Use two knives or a pastry tool.

Last weeks bars from the Cookie Book. Lemon bars and Banana Chip. Took a picture of the recipe, but not the bars! (Sorry for the stain!)The lemon bars were a huge hit, the banana bars not so much. I only got feedback from adults, maybe the kids would like them better. 10 for the lemon, 5-6 for the banana. Shared with Yankton Thrive and my control group at the Center.
