A change is coming to our cocoa collection. 🍫

If you’ve been with My Gurl & Me for a while, you know we’re incredibly particular about our ingredients—and we’re not afraid to change something when it no longer meets our standards.

For years, we’ve used Callebaut Belgian chocolate in our cocoas. We chose it because we genuinely loved the product and the quality it brought to our recipes.

Unfortunately, over time, we’ve watched that quality change. And we’ve reached the point where we’re simply no longer comfortable building our cocoa collection around it.

So we’ve been searching.

And we’re very excited to announce that we’re beginning the process of redeveloping our cocoa collection with Belcolade Belgian chocolate. Belcolade offers us something we’ve been looking for: a significantly simpler, cleaner ingredient list without sacrificing the rich chocolate our cocoas are known for.

This isn’t going to be a simple one-for-one ingredient swap. Chocolate behaves differently from one manufacturer to another, and every one of our cocoa recipes was developed around the ingredients in it. We’ll be going back through the collection, recipe by recipe, adjusting and testing until each one is exactly where we want it.

Because that’s the advantage of developing our own recipes: when an ingredient changes, we don’t have to lower our standards with it. We can change the recipe instead.

And there’s a pretty exciting bonus to the change: our move to Belcolade has also made it possible for us to develop a brand-new Caramel Cocoa! 🍫🤎 It’s already in the works and will be joining the collection soon.

You’ll begin seeing the transition to Belcolade as we work our way through the cocoa collection, and we’re pretty excited about what’s coming.

Hello, Westminster!

We’ll be back at the Downtown Westminster Farmers Market tomorrow from 8 AM–noon for our last Westminster market of the year!

Cooler weather is starting to creep in, which means our cocoas and mulling spices are back! ☕️ We’re also bringing multiple new loose-leaf teas, along with our hand-blended spices, baking mixes, seasonal blends, and plenty of your favorites.

It’s a great time to stock up for fall, try something new, or grab the favorites you’ve been running low on.

Fresh bread, homemade chicken & rice soup, and fresh garden pesto. 🍞🥕🌿

With the end of the produce season fast approaching, we’re making the most of our garden bounty and stocking the freezer with quick, homemade meals and garden goodness to enjoy long after the growing season is over!

Our chicken & rice soup — from our Bountiful Bowlfuls cookbook — is packed with carrots, onions, shallots, celery, basil, thyme, and parsley, all fresh from our garden, and seasoned with our Spuds and Mediterranean Poultry blends.

The mountains of basil coming out of the garden are becoming batches of homemade pesto — from our Herbal Infusions cookbook — for the freezer, and no pot of homemade soup is complete without a fresh loaf of bread to go alongside it. ❤️

There’s something pretty satisfying about turning what we’ve grown all summer into food we can pull from the freezer on a busy, cold day later this year.

💜🌿 Day 2 of the Maryland Lavender Festival! 🌿💜

What a wonderful weekend it has been so far! We’re excited to be back today sharing our handcrafted teas, spices, baking blends, extracts, and cookbooks with festival guests.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by yesterday, shared their favorite flavors, asked questions, and supported small businesses. Those conversations are one of our favorite parts of every event.
