✨Day three of my Small Business Spotlight: Happy Buddha Boutique✨

Some boutiques feel a little stiff or overly curated. Happy Buddha Boutique is the exact opposite. With one location in Tosa and a newer shop in West Allis, their spaces are bright, colorful, playful, and just a little wild in the best way.

My daughter Aubrey and I first discovered them at a local summer market. We were browsing earrings when an employee named Lilli struck up a conversation. She had a warmth about her, so kind and genuine. When she told us about their brick‑and‑mortar shop on North Ave, we knew we had to visit.

Since then, Aubrey and I stop in often, and every time we’re greeted with that same kindness. Beyond the fun vibe and unique, affordable pieces, I love that Happy Buddha Boutique stands firmly for what matters: LGBTQIA+ rights, immigrants, women’s rights, and more. As a small business, taking a public stand can be risky, but they do it anyway, and they do it proudly.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Their products are cute, reasonably priced, and unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. But honestly, supporting them feels even better knowing the people behind the counter are truly good humans. I highly recommend checking them out.☺️

✨Day 2 of my Small Business Spotlight is shining on a fellow local home bakery: Three Asters Bakery.✨

Three Asters specializes in cakes, gourmet cupcakes, macarons, and decorated cookies, and trust me, every single thing she makes is next‑level delicious. She recently moved to Tosa from Michigan, but she’s already built a huge following here, and it’s easy to see why.

Not only is her work incredible, but she’s also one of the most down‑to‑earth, genuinely awesome people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We’ve talked a few times, and based on everything we have in common, I’m convinced we’d be great friends (and yes…I’m actively manifesting that 😂).

Today kicks off a full week of highlighting incredible small businesses, and I’m so excited to start with Mind Your Banners ( on IG).

Mind Your Banners is a brand‑new custom banner business owned by one of my best friends, Kacey. She has always been wildly creative, and now she’s finally found the perfect outlet for that talent. She’s a natural and truly gifted artist, and she loves what she does. Based right in New Berlin, she can create anything your heart dreams up.

I had the honor of creating cookies for a fundraising event All Means All, supporting the Care for All Community Clinic in Milwaukee and The Red Tent Fund, organizations dedicated to protecting unrestricted abortion care and ensuring that anyone who needs it can access it with dignity.

The room was packed shoulder‑to‑shoulder with almost 300 people united by a shared belief in women’s autonomy and the fundamental right to make decisions about their own bodies. Standing in that space, surrounded by so much conviction and solidarity, was profoundly empowering.✨

It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when I have friends from high school reach out to order cookies for a special celebration in their life. This time, for a wedding.💍💕 Jenny was so easy to work with and told me to do anything, as long as I used periwinkle blue, wild flowers, and incorporated her sister’s golden retriever into the set in some way. I am absolutely in love with how this wedding set came out and I heard the bride did too.🦮💐👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏼‍♂️

Another local cookier reached out and asked if I could make cookies for her birthday, and honestly, I don’t think there’s a bigger compliment in this business than a fellow cookier trusting you with their celebration.

She told me I could make whatever design I wanted. The only requirement was that it had to be Mexican Chocolate flavor.

So I started learning a little about her, and immediately realized we are basically the same person. Like annoyingly similar lol.

We landed on a Waitress musical theme, which felt perfect since it’s a favorite for both of us. And fun fact: I was supposed to sing She Used to Be Mine for a voice recital right before Covid shut everything down. So this set felt a little full‑circle for me too.🥧🧑🏻‍🍳💕🧈

Happy birthday, Chelsea! I think the universe is basically telling us we’re supposed to be friends, so let’s finally set up that coffee date soon!
