Happy New Year!
I made collard greens this year using my brother’s recipe and prepared black-eyed peas in the slow cooker. This tradition is simple, comforting, and just what I needed.
Food has always been at the center of Kale Von Celery, especially food made with care and intention. As I head into 2026, I’m still figuring out what that looks like. I’m in the middle of working towards my master’s in public health, and I want to use this space to share more of what I’m learning about health, community, and care in ways that feel real and accessible.
At the same time, I’m being honest with myself. Between school, work, mental health, life, and gestures wildly everything else, it’s possible this brand needs to rest, or at least change shape. I’m not completely comfortable with all the answers yet, so I’m working through that.
For now, I’ll keep cooking, honoring what came before, and seeing what’s next.
Do you eat collard greens and black eyed peas on New Year’s Day?
