The Northeastern Debate Society is a part of the American Parliamentary Debate Association (APDA).

NUDS is losing some of the kindest, funniest, most genuine people you will ever meet. TWO icons and former presidents with incredible legacies left behind. We will miss you both so much! ❤️

ALL ABOARD!!!! 🗣️🚂🚂Frank is the good-humored goofball president/dictator/unofficial yassifier of NUDS. Frank is a joker of all trades and also a master of all of the trades. If they ever got stuck on a deserted island they could offer some very useful skills to the group such as, how to do FUNDIES, the best urban planning strategies, and some creative team names to prevent people from resorting to cannibalism. You can often catch this little busy bee buzzing around campus with a Dunkin iced coffee, for which they always save the cup to pour some [REDACTED] into at the socials. Freshman year I thought that Frank was always talking about me, but actually it was just their ex-girlfriend, whose name sounds exactly like mine. 🥲 Frank also has partial legal ownership over the APDA meme page and definitely invests in cryptocurrency (I’m guessing). Frank pays for pro-Ams using crypto and meme page royalties.

Frank is also solely carrying our official title of the most attractive APDA team. The rest of NUDS really needs to step it up. This is your final warning. 😡🤬

Remember to respect your elders everyone, they have feelings too! 🧓🏼👵🏼CHOO CHOO! 🚂🚂

we are so proud of our novs (elizabeth and donnell) who made it all the way to quarterfinals of the Brown Novice tournament! edward and aleeza vibed and husna and zeynep crushed as well!! thank you for all the varsities who came out to support!! we can’t wait to have fun with everyone at Rutgers, what a way to kick off the semester!! 🥰🥰🥰

We’re also incredibly proud to report a slew of achievements from NUDS that I didn’t get to post about before! 🥰

Joe Cox and Dennis Su were the top 12th breaking team to Quarterfinals at the Harthouse IV 2021!! WOO our BP power pair!

Gabbi Shilcusky and her partner Yannick Davidson (Williams) also broke 2nd at the Smith/Columbia Tournament earlier this year and Gabbi and Yannick were 4th and 5th varsity speakers respectively!

In the meantime, NU co-hosted APDA’s first BIPOC tournament for debaters of color with BC (i think that's kinda cool ngl). Special shoutouts to all the CAs, dinos, judges and participants who made this possible!

✨✨Congratulations to Ananya Kalahasti and Dennis Su for winning the BIPOC tournament, we're over the moon!! ✨✨

At Tufts/UMD, two NU teams crushed it by breaking to outs! Frank Rodriguez and Ethan Reiter broke all the way to octos! This was Ethan’s first break, we were ecstatic! Gabbi and her partner Allison Li (John Hopkins) broke all the way to semis! Gabbi was 7th best speaker and Allison was top speaker, AMAZING!! 🥰

At GW/ Fordham Pro-Ams, three NU teams broke to outs! Dennis and his partner Shaye Martin (Williams) broke 4th (ended up winning the tournament!) Donnell Weldon and his partner, Emmanuel Murphy (W&M) broke 9th, and Mahima Ramesh and her partner, Audrey Shing broke 14th and both teams broke all the way to octofinals!

Mahima was 3rd top novice speaker!! 🥳 This was Donnell and Mahima’s first break at an APDA tournament and Mahima’s first APDA tournament ever! We’re also so unspeakably proud of all our novs who competed including Sofia, Cynthia, Aleeza, and Kaydra (umm can we talk about gms of color retention!)

Pro-ams are for the kids but we’re gonna shoutout the varsities as a treat! Dennis was 5th best speaker and Emmanuel was 4th best speaker!! Thank you to all the varsities who took our novs this weekend! 😊

To top off this weekend, Dennis and Shaye WON ALL OF PRO-AMs! As our team historian tells me, this is the first time that NU has ever won pro-ams, so we couldn't be more ecstatic! 🥰
