Batteries can provide a little juice in the event of a power outage.
They aren't meant to sustain your house's power needs indefinitely.

You could keep the lights on, your food refrigerated for a couple days while they get the outage solved, but your solar system is tied into the grid for all intents and purposes.

I hate to break it to you, but solar doesn't work in a power outage.

It's all tied into the grid. Even though the source is different, the function is symbiotic and if the grid goes down, you're gonna be in the dark.

If you have a battery system it can sustain some light function for a time, but the Solar System is about collection, not storage.
