Getting ready for a Shlissel Hallah baking workshop this evening. It is customary for some to bake this key hallah for the first Shabbat after Passover. Here is what I wrote about this custom combined with the Tunisian Jewish custom of b'sisa, which is practiced after Purim. Both are a wish for making a good living, for plenty.

When it comes to superstitious rituals, the divide between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews isn’t as wide as some might think. Case in point: bsisa and shlissel challah, two post-Passover practices to bring prosperity.
