I started carving pumpkins when we moved into our new house. Mom never let us, because the pumpkins were for pies. (I only use freshpumpkin). It’s something I really enjoy. As many know, Halloween is also my all-time favorite Halloween movie & I was a HS career babysitter, so I relate to the whole pumpkin carving activity with Laurie & Tommy. This year, was my son’s and seems my husband’s first time ever carving a jack o’ lantern!! I think they did a great job. The skeleton is mine.

So let’s talk about fancy sugar cookies. I say “fancy” because they’re different than the hard as rock character ones we used to get as kids. They are a labor of love, because you really need to love creating them to invest the time into the labor. More importantly, HOW DO THEY TASTE??? I make over 60 flavors now. Vanilla is #1, because people are afraid to step outside the box. Lemon is #2. And WOW, there is always great feedback. #3 Confetti, I think because it looks like a party. But pink champagne is DELICIOUS, orange cream, strawberry cheesecake, blueberry lemon & chocolate are all dynamite! Don’t be afraid to try something different. It’s your event & it’s dessert!!
