Happy Monday!! Are you a fan of baking? Do you want to show off your skills? ENTER for the Ventura County Fair baking competition (link below). We are so excited that our own gluten free master chef Arnel will be one of the judges for Division 575 - Gluten Free Entries!!

Food entries need to be delivered to the Home Arts Building between 7am and 1pm, Monday July 31.
Food must be brought in on a disposable plate or pan
Items must be wrapped in CLEAR plastic wrap
•
Classes of entries (all gluten free)
1. Bars (4 bars + 2 wrapped separately)
2. Cakes (1/2 cake + 1 slice wrapped)
3. Cookies (4 cookies + 2 wrapped separately)
4. Cobbler/Crisp (submit in a disposable 8” x 8” pan)
5. Flourless Cake (1/2cake + 1 slice wrapped)
6. Pies!
7. Sweet Breads (1/2 loaf + 1 slice wrapped)
8. Yeast Breads (1/2 loaf + 1 slice wrapped)
9) everything else!

Below are the gluten free cakes that were entered and judged for this year’s Ventura County Fair. The chocolate cake with white icing was so moist and delicious it was deemed a first place winner. In addition, we got to taste some very tasty pound cake, a creative chocolate-zucchini bread, and carrot cake with nuts to die for.

What a fabulous array of gluten free food entries for the Ventura County baking contest this year. For the very first time, we had two different savory breads to taste.

Below (clockwise) you can see a delicious doughnut, a yummy strawberry cupcake, a moist carrot cake with lots of seeds, and an adorable almond bar.

Come visit the Home Arts Building and see these delicacies up-front-and-personal. A special thank you goes out to all the bakers who took the time to enter their epicurean delights and show the world how fun and delicious gluten free baking can be.
