Donations feel good. Upon completion of Four Corals' first year around the sun, I am stoked to announce that your love and support of this fine experiment is helping protect and preserve the most vulnerable beaches around the planet. is this year's recipient in honor of their incredibly generous and protective actions to establish World Surf Reserve protection for your favorite surf breaks and biodiverse environments. Their commitment to oceanic conservation is second to none.

Most recently, Play Hermosa, Costa Rica has been protected from new development and y'all know what a special place CR holds in my heart.

It has been another wild year. A year that has been worse for some of us than most. A healthy planet cannot exist without healthy oceans and thriving ecosystems. These challenges are sitting right in front of us. New diseases are rising, more water is polluted, wildfires are rampant, plastic is everywhere...

Whether or not you want to believe it, the generations (and your children) behind us will not be blessed with the same beauty and landscapes that we loved and cherished growing up. It is a selfish notion to assume our youth will have a seamless environmental future. Small actions of support require zero initiative, and only the slightest bit of awareness. Drink your coffee without a lid. Refuse that straw, and sip like a caveman. Send a few bucks to an organization that matters to you. And most importantly, go share a wave with a friend (or stranger!), knowing that water is as pure as the efforts you take to protect it.

Take this as a reminder, the least we can do is protect this planet for as long as we can.

Greetings! It has been a long couple of weeks… how are y’all?

…Good, me too!

My most sincere apologies for the lack of recent excitement. Thanksgiving road trippin’ and new life chapter-flippin’ kind of stuff has been real. But we still here!

What IS exciting? COSTA RICA TARRAZU IS BACK 🙌🏾 20 pounds of it 🤤🤤 it’s been what…? 6 months since being in stock? Could you imagine being stuck at sea for that long? With unroasted coffee? Geezus. Very ouch, baby. Anywho, I gotchu 😘☕️

I went and got some time on the big boi, the 10kg Probat (Thanks Mr Green Beans!) That thing is a hell of a lot of machine versus my lil Huky… just trying to keep up here! And it’s Christmas. We all need more coffee.

Okay fine. “Living Room Upgrade”, yes. My living room is just cooler than yours. Or maybe not… (you can send photos of your living rooms if you want. Actually, yes. Let’s have a vote. Coolest living room gets a bag of coffee. Pets highly encouraged)

Anyways, just trying to keep y’all jumping and jiving and caffeinated for the winter. So, I drilled holes through my home to vent out toxic smoke and made it possible. Just for us 🤗 because let’s be real… cold winters suck for corals.

Oh no! We are outta stock! But… just momentarily 🕺🏽 FRESH BOLIVIAN MEDIUM ROAST IS COOLIN’ 🤤🤤

Backstory of Roast:
Bolivia grows coffee? Yep! Bolivia is a pretty cool place. Roast-buddy Brian also has some Bolivian roots. Once, we listened to some Bolivian folk tunes and looked up cool, bucket-list destinations like Lake Titicaca and cool animals and stuff. So when we ran out of Costa Rican Tarrazú one day… this was recommended by the fine gentlemen at Mr. Green Beans. And BAM. Perfect substitute. Oh so similar. And ya know what? I actually prefer this bean… NEW ROASTERS FAVORITE 🇧🇴🇧🇴🇧🇴

Mmmm... freshh.

The latest Costa Rica Tarrazú roasts have been unreal... absolute CHOCOLATE BOMBS. By taking a slower approach into the final stages of this roast, we have pulled out insane amounts of cocoa and mocha. Just grabbed 20 more pounds of this bean, and loading bags back up!

The Tarrazú region produces some of (if not) the finest coffee beans in the world. Finding new ways to develop this already delicious bean has been a lot of fun. It has been quite a crowd pleaser!

It’s a chilly, relaxing, and wonderful evening to post-up with a cup of fresh roast and watch the 🤙🏾 Surfing is back! 🕺🏽 Thanks everyone!

What a beautiful coffee. This rusty red hue is the optimal capstone to your morning sunrise 🌅 Nicaragua Jinotega - Medium Roast

Backstory:
This Nicaraguan Jinotega is from Finca La Odisea. Owned and operated by the brothers at here in Portland, Oregon. By directly importing green beans from their farm to Portland, this is the most direct way you could ever get your coffee! Winston, their owner, is kind and generous enough to sell his families beans to roasters locally.
During the original days of roasting on a stove in a popcorn machine, this was the bean we played around with the most. This is the bean we failed with the most... but wanted ever so badly to roast it to its full potential. After having put this bean aside for a bit and working on fine-tuning other roasting elements... coming back to it has been an absolute joy to roast! And DELICIOUS.

This is such an approachable and smooth sippin’ coffee for any coffee drinker. Perfect for the dark coffee drinker needing to be spoiled on the weekend. Or an everyday cup for the more nuanced palettes. It’s got a slightly sweet, but bold mouthfeel. A chocolatey tone, but with a kiss of acidity and brightness that lingers just long enough until that next sip. After some tweaks and experimentation... we are really enjoying this coffee lately 😎

Thanks Winston for the green bean inspiration 🤙🏾 Their new shop at the Mercado is awesome! Be sure to check them out at both locations (and small biz event on 72nd today!) and eat mini fried donuts and Horchata lattes 🤤 it’s a small business kind of Saturday!
