A customer sent this to me and I thought I would share it, because homemade vanilla extract is delicious and so simple! Unfortunately right now it is also rather expensive to make, because the cost of vanilla beans is so high at the moment. Still, if you've never made it and you like to bake, put it on your bucket list. :)

I love this naked cake I made yesterday for a graduation celebration! I made a "congrats" pennant banner too but I couldn't add it before the customer transported it. ;) This is white cake with strawberry filling and vanilla swiss meringue buttercream, with gold dusted berries, candy pearls, and a succulent to top it off.

I recently taught a cake class series to a group of teen homeschoolers. For one class I demonstrated these adorable succulent cupcakes. I had icing left over and made a bunch of extra little succulents and put them in the freezer. And it gave me an idea of how I could maybe still practice this art without running a home bakery in full. I can make buttercream decorations like these, maybe also some with gum paste or fondant, to sell as pre-made decorations for your own homemade cakes! They are so simple to use once made - simply freeze them and while they are frozen hard, take them off the parchment paper and place them on your cake or cupcakes. What do you think?

Yesterday's wedding was my last order for the year - and unfortunately, my last order before a baking hiatus. I am closing up indefinitely due to chronic health problems. The past year has been difficult one and I eventually determined that the long hours on my feet in the kitchen just isn't feasible. Thank you to all of my customers, friends, and family for your business and support the past two years!
