The Sweetest Things by Michelle Hardin Cupcake Bakery Thank you for checking out my page! I recently returned to my hometown of Sedalia, Missouri and am excited to continue my small baking business.

First off, a little bit about me-I retired from the Air Force in 2018 and continued working as a civil servant until June of 2022. I am also a crafter and will be utilizing this same platform to share some of my projects. I began my baking journey in 2011 while stationed overseas just trying to help out an organization I belonged to, it was such a hit that The Sweetest Things was born! I have definitely grown over the years and I hope that you will enjoy what I bring to the table.

It’s been a while, ok, a really long time, but I’m getting back into the game…I did a baby shower today for a family friend, complete with cupcakes, sugar cookies (don’t judge, it had been a while and these were definitely challenging) and a charcuterie table…yes, I can put together charcuterie tables as well! I’m going to try to start putting together a few things and offering specials in the near future…bear with me as I attempt to transition back out of working and into staying home again, it’s a struggle trying to juggle all of the projects!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life and haven’t been in the kitchen as much as I would like, but it’s going down today! I’m prepping for a wedding and putting some samples out today. Thanksgiving is sneaking up on me, how about you? I will be offering Pumpkin Rolls next week to take to those Thanksgiving dinners. Each roll will be $15, pickups will take place on Wednesday evening in Sedalia for Thanksgiving day. So I promised a giveaway which I meant to do on Veterans Day, but I was so busy putting together the goodies for my moms birthday I let it slip…anyway-here it is…

This is only good for people in the Sedalia area-or those willing to travel to Sedalia for pickup.

My mama turned 65 glorious years old today! She requested my special Guinness and Baileys cupcakes, Angel food cake with 7 minute frosting (her childhood favorite from my grandma-and I forgot to take a picture) and I had to make cookies as I am still learning and having fun trying…I am not offering cookies-if you would like cookies I would be glad to refer you to an amazing cookie baker! The process for creating frosting-let butter rest on counter for approximately one hour, cube butter, whip in mixer on high speed forever 😆. Seriously though, I whip the butter for 5-10 minutes so it gets nice and fluffy for you all, then I add the cream cheese and start that process all over again before finishing it with powdered sugar and any extras that may need to be added-todays is Baileys…

Did you know-all of my frostings are a cream cheese buttercream unless otherwise requested or a specialty that requires a different topping…

It’s been a busy day out here, I’m testing out new recipes and preparing for my first order since the big move…just to give you an idea of what my kitchen looks like in the middle of an order…all cupcakes are made within 24 hours of pickup/delivery, certain ones may require that time to be shortened, such as tomorrows Fruity Pebbles cupcakes-nobody wants stale cereal! So those will be made tomorrow morning and frosted right before delivery time. Tomorrows menu is Fresh Strawberry, Red Velvet and Fruity Pebbles. I have a few extras and tasters available and will be out and about in Sedalia tomorrow evening sharing-let me know if you’d like to try one and I can let you know where to find me!
