My middle grandson, Dean, requested a funfetti cake with ghosts and a haunted house! How did his Mimi do? 👻
The ghosts were made from rice paper. Mist them with water until they become pliable then shape them and drape them over a foam cake dummy to dry.
So pretty from any angle. Organic pressed flowers for this whimsical wedding cake this past weekend.

This beauty helped two become one in the beautiful Berkshire yesterday. The venue was breathtaking at Bloom Meadows in Williamstown MA.
The order was for a two-tier cake but something felt unfinished to me so I added the third tier on Saturday morning and everything felt right again 🤗
I used sugar flowers/leaves for the Lilly of the Valley. Creating them with buttercream wasn’t going to allow the movement I was looking for and real Lilly of the Valley is toxic! I love the simplicity of the flowers and the dramatic movement of the leaves. It’s a unique cake and made to the brides' specifications. I have to say photos do not do it justice. ☺️🤗

Sugar flower Cala Lillies and Lilly of the Valley buds are the stars on this cake. Fresh flowers need to be placed the day of the event and that's not always an option so sugar flowers can create the next best thing! These are outsourced from a company in California as I'm not skilled in this art form!

This was made for my friends daughter’s double major from MIT 🙌🏻👏🏻 congratulations, Alex!!
She belongs to a group they call ”The Hive” 🤗
I enjoyed the process of making this cake for her!
This is a honey vanilla cake soaked with honey while the layers were still warm, filled with lemon Swiss meringue buttercream and finished semi naked style with a honey drip, hand piped moonshadow sunflowers and adorable little fondant bees.

I had so many ideas swirling in my head and I had a hard time sorting through how to execute them. I knew I wanted to incorporate a floral icing sheet and a stencil. The icing sheets can be tricky when you want precision. I came across an incredibly talented cake artist and her use of edible images inspired me. I love the old-world feel of the torn icing sheet. I’m always down for as many textural elements as possible!

A clean and simple boho style cake for a wedding shower this past weekend.
This is a remake of my larger two tier cake this past winter.
Cake flavor: GF DF lemon cake with blueberry compote and lemon buttercream.
The bride wanted a boho meets rock’ n roll feel in shades of gray, blush, and black. She hand-made the wood flowers herself! I mean what a way to personalize your wedding cake! The bottom tier is marbled perfectly and coordinated with the middle and top tier with texture and stenciling. It was one of my favorite creative processes and I'm in love with her result!
Getting the cake to the venue was a breeze using my Cakesafe box from . The scariest part was plunging the center dowel through the cake 😳

I’ve tried a few techniques to create the marbled design, the acetate method, and the pallet knife method. Here, I used a pallet knife to apply three striated shades of buttercream. This is definitely the easiest way to achieve the look. After applying your thick layer of buttercream, then smoothing it lightly, chill your cake for an hour, you want the buttercream to set underneath so you can reveal the marbling. Once chilled start scraping away the outer surface until the marbling is fully exposed! Be patient with this, it’s many many turns of the table. Keep cleaning your tools to maintain your smooth surface!
