If you knew Dad, worked at the bakery for just one day (or drove by our house while he was sunbathing!) you knew how much he loved music, especially KSHE 95 - Real Rock Radio. Music was always present in our lives; at home, and definitely in the back room of the bakery. I’m sure it helped make the very early mornings more bearable.

In honor of Dad, I created a playlist that brings back so many memories of growing up. Not all of these are rock songs, though! Dad also liked musicals and Christmas music, so some of his favorites are on here, too.

This is an often-asked for recipe every year around the holidays: Chinese Chewies. The recipe was modified for home baking and featured along with an article about the Union bakery in a 1990 edition of Parade magazine.

Make sure you read the entire recipe (pecan ingredient carried over to the 2nd column), otherwise the recipe will not turn out as remembered. Enjoy! 🍪
