A little update on my renal cell carcinoma- My surgery is on Wednesday 5/13 (this coming Wednesday) to remove part of my kidney. I am still not in the clear yet as after they send to pathology I may or may not need further treatment. I’m hoping for the latter obviously! That being said, Charlie is going to try his best to do our breads for Spring Into Warner on Saturday 5/16, and in the coming weeks. I’m not sure how long I’ll be out of commission but I’m really hoping not too long. This will slow us down, however we can’t stop baking as we cannot afford to take much down time (as it is Charlie is not getting paid for his time off) so we will still be here if you need anything sourdough related. Send all your positive thoughts because honestly- no filter- I’m scared sh*tless! Thank you for letting me be your neighborhood sourdough fairy 🫶🏻🖤🤘🏻🧚🏻🥖

Welp, we had a pasta catastrophe (a pastastrophe if you will)
Since I’m done crying now I can laugh. If anyone knows me they know I’m not the most graceful person there is. Well, while moving the bins that were holding my bulk pasta I had to package, I accidentally dumped one and in doing that also dumped the other. There was VERY little that was salvageable, and that’s all I’ll have at the market tomorrow- very limited amount. I know a lot of people were looking forward to it so I feel terrible. But that just means when we’re back in concord in 2 weeks we will have more.

So… let’s talk about “food safety” for a second since it comes up from time to time.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration sets allowable thresholds for things like insect fragments, rodent hair, and mold in commercially produced food. Not because they don’t care—but because at industrial scale, some contamination is unavoidable.

That’s the reality of mass production.

Now here’s the part that doesn’t get talked about:

Small, hands-on baking environments (like mine) don’t operate at that scale.

Every loaf I make is:

* made with ONLY organic flour- NO GLYPHOSATE
* mixed in my comparatively small 15qt mixer
* shaped by hand
* seen, touched, and inspected multiple times

There’s no conveyor belt. No massive storage silos. No “acceptable defect levels” mindset.

Just eyes on the product—start to finish.

So when people question the quality control of licensed home bakers…I have to wonder what they think is happening in large-scale production.

Real food isn’t just about ingredients. It’s about proximity, attention, and accountability.

Spring/Summer Market Season is here. Where can you find us, might you ask?! Well…

We’re happy to announce that we will be part time vendors at the !
We’ll be there every other Saturday beginning 5/9. We will also be doing the every Saturday we are not in Concord. Some weeks we may try to do both- but we’ll see how the beginning of the season goes!
