BOOKS CLOSED!!!

I’m finally down to the final 25 orders on my books! I appreciate those of you who have been patiently waiting and I’m hoping to get all 25 knocked out and shipped in the coming weeks. I will be keeping my books closed indefinitely going forward. While I absolutely appreciate each order and request the last 4 years doing this full time have burnt me out to the point of dreading going in to the shop. Not having any free time to work on ideas, things I want to try, contest calls etc can quickly kill the enjoyment of something I love to do. I’m not stepping away from call making in anyway. I will still be making calls but doing this will allow me to spend the time I’d like to on decorative calls and contest entries, hunting calls I want to make, maybe even make myself a call for the first time. After I get my books cleared when I do have a call available I will post them as such and they will be available on a first come first serve basis. I thank you all for your support and understanding, and more so your patience.

The 2021-22 season is officially in the books. And it was certainly one for the books with more new memories, stories, and friendships than I imagined on opening day. I made several trips out of town this season, had customers and friends alike visit the shop from out of town. Finally got to go see my good friend Mr. Kent in his shop and whip up a collab call. Got several ducks that were on my list, took my kids out on hunts, watched Danielle shoot her first bird. I made countless new friends who all share a same passion of chasing ducks! All the work, the early mornings, the grind that is duck hunting and the moments of chaos when it all comes together is what drives us all. The cherished moments that become memories held dear, the sunrises and the sunsets. I always take a day or two after the season ends to just reflect, brainstorm, get into the book I jot ideas for calls down on throughout the year and gear up for this year. I’m a very lucky man to be able to call this my job, it’s the relationships, the moments and memories that make me genuinely enjoy this journey. Thank you all for your continued support and here’s to 2022!!

You VS you the day before. The second picture was my first attempt at checkering a few years ago. I got frustrated and set the tools down and didn’t touch them again for a year or so. The call I’m working on now also has mistakes in it. Mistakes that bother me every time I look at it which were caused from one moment of getting ahead of myself. Each failure brings with it a lesson if you’re willing to learn. You can’t cheat the grind, every success comes with hours and hours of unseen work. Some duck calls around to this day date back to the 1800’s, it was the craftsmanship that make them not only last this long but a true heirloom. Don’t give up, don’t take shortcuts, don’t hide the flaws with a lens. A picture is worth a thousand hours!

This auction will run from now until 11/30/2021 at 12:00 pm CST

The auction will start at $400 and bids will be increments of $10

Details of the call -

Dyed maple burl barrel and insert sleeved in African Blackwood

Hand carved and inlaid brass reindeer and duck
The end caps and the duck inlay panel are casted copper, brass and aluminum flakes

Carved brass band and carved Cadillac checkering on insert and barrel with stippled grooves backfilled with wax paint.
