When I was little, a used to love watching my mamaw bake and decorate cakes. She would make all of our birthday cakes growing up. I remember thinking to myself how fun it looked and how creative my mamaw was. Ever since then, I've loved the idea of opening my own bakery. But since was always afraid to take that leap of faith, I put that dream in the back of my mind. I ended up going to college to

pursue my "reality" dream of getting my degree in Mathematics Education. Fast forward to the present, I'm married with two wonderful yet wild little boys. I'm in my 8th year of teaching with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. All of this is great, except I still thought about my dream of baking. I think back to all the times I stole spoon fulls of frosting from mamaw's kitchen, and how much fun it was watching her. So here I am now, through some strong encouragement from loved ones, starting my own baking business...Southern Sweets Bakery!

🍞 SOMETHING NEW IS COMING TO SOUTHERN SWEETS! ❤️

Many of you know that I've recently stepped away from my Tuesday, Oxford Community Market because of scheduling changes.

But Southern Sweets isn't going anywhere!

I'm still baking your favorite artisan sourdough breads, bagels, focaccia, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and seasonal treats — I'm just creating a new way for you to order and receive menus and specials.

*Side note: You can also still come see me at the Pontotoc Farmers Market every Saturday morning from 7-11am!*

I’m set up at the student union on The University of Mississippi - Ole Miss this morning. Blessed to be giving this opportunity to meet new people and share my sourdough yummies!!!

Come join us tomorrow at the Pontotoc Farmers Market from 7-11am. You can make starting back to school easy on yourself by stocking up of fresh sourdough bread for sandwiches, snacks and breakfast foods for school, and fresh produce to make fixing supper easy!!!
