What’s in a name? Everything! The moniker Velvet Rose is a nod to my mother Rose and her reputation for baking arguably the best red velvet cakes in South Florida. For nearly 10 years through word of mouth advertising her business has grown and as with any family business there comes a time when the baton must be passed and the next generation must grab the reigns. Here I am! After progressing fr

om a child who watched and asked questions as my mother baked to an adult who was later called on to assist with the baking and decorating, I am happy to bring to North Florida what South Florida has known for so long, my mother’s recipe for the most decadent, rich and flavorfully moist cakes and cupcakes. The present is indeed a nod to the past and these recipes have stood the test of time. Utilizing my mother’s classic recipe and fusing it with a modern twist, I’m bringing to Tallahassee/ North Florida a mixture of the past in a modern package with custom bespoke wedding and event cakes.
