This Dairy Sweet Life We are the L’Esperance Family and have been farming since 2012! We milk about 150 cows in 2 locations in Swanton, VT.

We have a mid-sized maple sugaring operation and sell a variety products. Our latest project is The Dairy Sweet Creamery.

With June being National Dairy month I would like to take each day to share a little of what life looks like here at L’Esperance Dairy.

It all started in September 2012 when a far fetched, crazy by most people’s standards, dream became our life. We purchased a milking herd of Holstein cows from Wynn Paradee and his wife, Pauline, at Pawn Acres in Swanton. Cody started working with Wynn in August and took over the operation in September. It started with around 35 milkers and a few replacements. We were young and just beginning our life together. I was teaching full time and bartending on the side. Cody managed the farm on his own, finding help only for cropping and sugaring season. The week before Christmas in 2014 we purchased the house and farm where we continue to live and work today! 🥰

Each batch of milk that is processed is tested for antibiotics, even if we aren’t currently treating any cows.
A milk sample is taken from the bulk tank and tested against a positive control and a negative control. All information is recorded and kept for our licensor to inspect. This is a brief peek at what the process looks like! 👍🏻 🐮🥛

Our self-serve farm stand offers whole, creamline milk produced and pasteurized here at our dairy! We offer chocolate and maple milk as well!
Our farm stand has maple syrup, maple cream, local honey, and local BBQ sauce.
