Happy 89th Birthday Uncle Jack!!! What a special celebration for a very special man! Our long time friend Eddie (who is Uncle Jack’s nephew) wanted to surprise him with a cake capturing memories of years past. Eddie, Benny, Mike, Jim and Scott (Jim and Scott came in from out of town) made arrangements to meet at Uncle Jack’s place and set up a little surprise party for him. The cake was WASC with buttercream icing. The ‘76 Ford Cabover was made from Rice Krispie treat thrn covered and detailed with fondant. Other details that Eddie wanted included was the Pine Flat sign, a beer Can on top of the sign, “Pinky” their special potty chair, a man with an orange vest (as Uncle Jack) with his arms in the air, a large exaggerated camp fire and then I also added ice chests, water jug, lawn chairs, tree stump with ax, shovel, deer, squirrel, horse shoes, lantern and a coffee can for the toilet paper. I also made the fire pit with rocks made out of fondant and tall flames I made out of rice paper that I colored red, orange and yellow. Setting up the fire pit, I added a flickering tea light to try and give the effect of a fire burning. I bought the trees from Target but everything else was edible. The guys shared some of their memories and it was such a special day. It was great to see them together. I was so honored to be be there and be a part of it.
