I have been cookie-ing for 6 months now and have loved every minute. Even though I am very part time with it, I have learned so much. I found a great cookie recipe that gets great feedback. Two very popular icing recipes that people love. Great designs and encouragement from other cookiers online. And there have been many "firsts" on this journey, too. Such as the first batch of perfect cookies, not undercooked or overcooked. The first time the icing consistency has been perfect, not too stiff to cause your hand to cramp, or too dry to actually stick to the cookie, or too much humidity in the kitchen to cause your colors to bleed or run. The first decorated cookie that I was happy with that looked like it was supposed to, mostly😉. The thing with my cookies is you can tell they are "made with love". I don't use a projector or an airbrush or transfers. I make these things with my very own shaky hands. And the very first customer order. ❤️
And then there was the first time the icing bag split while I was confidently spinning air bubbles out and it completely decorated me and my kitchen with green icing... The dogs were excited for the unexpected treat splatters on the floor and were none too happy to be chased back into the other room. Icing ended up in places I didn't think it could reach, like on the wall behind the refrigerator.
And then that time when the icing became runny from sitting (lemon icing breaks down faster from the acidity) and overflooded the cookies, and instead of stopping to fix the consistency, I just kept going and the designs look like they were done by a preschooler.
Sigh. Good times, good times. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
