In anticipation of the cold weather and snowfall, we are diligently planning for spring on our bee farm, focusing on new hive boxes, pollen feed, and planting for the benefit of all pollinators. Donations of seeds and plants would be greatly appreciated, and we are open to buying or bartering for necessary items. Our ultimate goal extends beyond the farm, aiming to educate and involve the local community in pollinator conservation, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. We understand that this is a slow and gradual process, but we are convinced that our collective efforts will yield meaningful results. The Unruly Bee

Friend: "I don't know why my garden isn't producing. I don't see any bugs since I started using Sevin Dust, so the plants are growing, but nothing? What's wrong?"

Me: "You used Sevin Dust; it's an insect killer. It will kill pollinators, which you need for your plants to produce! I don't have any other answer for you. Sorry."

Why do they sell it? Because people buy it. Stop buying it.

It is SWARM season now until a cold snap.

What is a swarm?
Generally when it comes to honey bees, a swarm is when the queen whether she’s the older queen or a brand new one. Breaks free from the hive. And takes a bunch of bees “followers” with her. They follow to care for her and find a new home.
When they land on a branch in your yard, the side of your car, the side of your house. Usually during a swarm they are just in rest mode. They have no home to defend so they are pretty docile.
It may not feel like it or look like it when they are flying in a cloud all around.
Unless they find a spot to land in a buildings foundation, a hollowed out tree, or a swarm trap they will more than likely move on.

don’t swat at them.
Don’t freak out, they are calm they have no reason to defend and attack
And Don’t SPRAY anything to move them away!
Your space is just a rest stop. If they stay more than a few hours or overnight and they are not “IN” a building
Call a beekeeper.
Call us.. we can come by and locate the queen to remove them safely and bring them back to the apiary where they will get a new home.
