Mackenzie and Chris kicked off my fall sprint of weddings and what an incredible day it was. They wanted an “industrial fall” look and with the help of a unique venue, gorgeous floral and the perfect stationary- we accomplished just that! This full wedding experience even included a pit stop to see a tiny, new family member 🥹

Did you know 50 breweries operated in St. Louis by 1870? We're a famous beer town, and what goes better with a cold brew than a soft pretzel? If you can't get Gus' Pretzel Shop for a sack or to Perennial on Lockwood for their version of Pretzel Monkey Bread, make a pan at home. This recipe did not disappoint!

Happy Wednesday!! Today and every day, we really do "knot" know what we would do without our AMAZING staff! Thanking them for all they do and enjoying some yummy pretzels! Gus' Pretzel Shop
Wednesday, October 5, was our second full day in St. Louis. The only scheduled event for the day was a Clydesdale VIP tour at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery at 1:30, so we had a lot of time to fill beforehand.
Catrina and I finished our second day of workouts at CrossFit O'Fallon, with more to come tomorrow. We are both finding the workouts to be essential given how much food we are eating on this trip. It’s been fun, but I admit that I have popped several Tums today.
Since we were near the Brewery, I decided to show the girls Soulard Farmer’s Market. Unfortunately, while the market is technically open on Wednesday, the market functionally operates more on Friday and Saturday. Only two stalls were open, along with the stores operating in the middle section. We may stop by on our way out of town Friday to see it busy.
Based on Greg Messler’s recommendation, we decided to stop by Gus' Pretzel Shop for a lunchtime snack. The garlic butter, cinnamon sugar, and smoked cheddar bratwurst pretzel were all tasty. The lady helping us could not have been more friendly or helpful with our indecision. With pretzels in hand, we found a local park to sit down and eat.
With some time to kill, I decided to show the girls where Valerie and I lived when we were in St. Louis. It is also Catrina’s first house, since we moved from St. Louis when she was nine months old. Serendipitously, our former neighbor still lives in the house next door *and* she was outside gardening when we came by. By chance, she was talking to the people who live in our former house, who were very interested in the revisions we made to the house when we lived there. She even offered to let us tour the first floor of the house! With our brewery tour at 1:30, we offered to come back afterward and headed to the brewery.
When I told the girls I wanted to take them on a brewery tour, I clearly did not relay how impressive the complex is, because they were completely disinterested. Or they were, until we drove by the campus. They were shocked to see how many city blocks were occupied by the brewery and quickly changed their mind. That said, the Clydesdale tour was a lot of fun and a good time for minors. We learned a lot about the horse teams and had an opportunity up close with a horse. Plus, of course, a Budweiser on the tour and another beverage afterward.
With the tour finished, we headed back to the Shaw Neighborhood. But first, the girls wanted to stop by Gus’…again. The second order looked similar to the first, minus the bratwurst. Once in the neighborhood, we did get to tour the first floor, which looks very similar from when we left it in 2007. The kitchen area was redone, but the first floor largely was the same. The backyard, however, is completely different. A garage has been added, the sod pulled, and the garden expanded.
After nearly two hours of conversation with our former neighbor, we were running late for family dinner. Tonight it was a birthday dinner for my twin sisters, which apparently was a surprise to everyone but my mother! It turns out that us visiting was a good reason for a party!
Ribs did make it on the dinner menu, so we had that satisfied. Ted Drewe’s and St. Louis style pizza is still on the wish list, with toasted ravioli maybe on tomorrow’s dinner menu.

It's official! Katie + Jordan are newlyweds! Saturday was a hot one, but these two lovebirds enjoyed their special day nonetheless! They could not take their eyes off each other and it was wonderful to document the love between them
Tomorrow is National Hot Dog Day and I wrote a guide to places to grab a dog locally like Gus' Pretzel Shop, Saucy Dogs-Burgers-Tenders, Dirty Dogz O'Fallon and nationally *ahem Costco*. And, you can't forget to wash down a hot dog with a root beer from Fitz's or a new limited edition SmokeStock Whiskey from WhistlePig Whiskey.

Last Saturday we had the honor of documenting the beautiful wedding of Jordan and Olivia! It was a gorgeous day at Dodson Orchard, and the anticipation was almost tangible in the air. Jordan and Olivia couldn’t wait to see each other, but that first look from the end of the aisle was definitely a moment worth waiting for!
The day started with the girls getting ready in the cabin and the boys getting ready at the barn. There was music, drinks, and lots of laughs as everyone prepared for the big day!
After braving the heat for some quick portraits, it was finally time for the ceremony. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony, complete with friends, family, handwritten vows, and a few happy tears. The way these two smiled at each other through out the entire ceremony was so heartwarming, and when the officiant finally announced them as husband and wife the happiness that radiated from them was indescribable. Good thing a photo is worth a thousand words, huh? 😉
Once husband and wife portraits were done it was time to celebrate with cake, dancing, and pretzels! 🥨
Olivia and Jordan, thank you both so much for allowing us to spend this amazing day with you! We are so happy for you both, and we can’t wait to see where this new journey takes you! We hope your honeymoon was as amazing as your wedding, and that your move goes smoothly!! ❤️
