Been quite the busy girl these days and these photos are only about 1/4 of what I’ve done. You’d think I’d take the time to take pictures but I’m usually running out the door to the next thing!
I’ve got two cakes + flowers for weddings this weekend and I’m excited!
I also have photos for flowers for a wedding I did back in August to post. So much fun going on these days!

Photo dump because I haven’t had the capacity to make individual posts (obviously). Wanted to say thanks to those who have reached out and who have been patient with me while I’ve been occupied with my house renovation and wacky new job hours. 🌸
Still doing cakes and flowers over here and got a busy July and August! Fall is shaping up to be just as busy and I’m very grateful 🤍🌿

❄️ It was 65° today so it feels weird posting this lil fluffy sweater winter cake but if I don’t do it while I’m thinking about it, it’ll never get posted ❄️

And here we are..... sprinkle hoarding. ✨
I’ve got a wedding cake this weekend and two cakes next weekend so this cake cabinet had to be organized before I lost my mind.

💀 Happy Halloween! 👻
This two tier chocolate cake is for a wedding tonight and it was so fun!
The bride for this wedding came to me needing a cake less than two weeks ago and we got it done. I love short notice orders - I think it makes me more creative ♥️

My name is Sarah Lindsie Heifner and I started baking cakes in February of 2018. I was watching some Instagram posts about cake and thought, “Well I could probably do that.” My brother was getting married in the summer so I offered to make their wedding cake, figuring I could probably learn how to make a decent cake in four months. My sister in law said she wanted a whole cake table with seven different types of cakes plus your typical wedding cutting cake. (Insert puzzled/confused/worried face here)
And so began my recipe testing. While testing dozens of recipes I decided that if I were going to be making all of these cakes, I might as well try to make them look cool while I’m at it. One thing lead to another and now I’m doing wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and everything in between. I love using fresh flowers in my designs but also really enjoy the opportunity to do unique things with buttercream.
Why the name Flowers and Flour Cakes?
Remember that sister in law that basically kick started my cake making hobby? Together we have wanted to start a cake and floral shop as sort of a one-stop-shop for all your party needs and she came up with the name for us. Well, there’s no cake and floral shop. But I did get permission to use the name for my own cake making (thanks, Shelbs).
So there you have it. No crazy epiphanies or extreme passion and dedication... Just some good ole fashioned creativity and a modest affection for baking.
To quote Michael Scott: “Do I need (my cakes) to be liked? Absolutely not. I like (my cakes) to be liked. I enjoy (my cakes) being liked. I have to be liked. But it’s not like a compulsive need (for my cakes) to be liked. Like my need to be praised (for my cakes).”
