RUMORS,
Charlie and Myra have been married happily ever after for ten years now - a very good reason to celebrate! They invite their eight best friends (four couples of New York's high society) to their fancy house, where their cook Mai Li will prepare a five course meal and serve only the most expensive champagne. But when Chris and K
en Gorman arrive at the party, they only find Charlie's body covered with blood, a gun and suicide note - his wife no where to be found. Charlie is still alive but barely conscious and unable to explain the situation. While lawyer Ken remains calm (relatively), his wife Chris is coming apart at the seams, especially as the other guests begin arriving. They agree not to tell the other guests what happened since Charlie is the Deputy Mayor of New York and must be protected from the police, nosy journalists, and nasty rumors at all costs. However, it is hard to keep a secret from Claire and Lenny, the next couple to arrive on the scene, with no food, and no host or hostess. Claire and Lenny cannot find a solution when they are confronted with the situation and are left only to speculate. Was it suicide or attempted murder? Were they having marital problems and/or infidelity issues? Where are all the servants? Before they can come to a conclusion, Cookie and Ernie arrive, followed by Glenn and Cassie shortly after. After more accidents and a funny game of hide-and-seek the police are not far away...

Watch as the four couples desperately try to conceal an attempted suicide (or was it?), solve the mystery of the vanished Chinese cook, find something to eat, and fool the police. Witness Chris and Ken figuring out what happened to their friend Charlie. Participate in Claire and Lenny's gossip about their friends Charlie and Myra and the other couples. Suffer with Cookie and Ernie and their various ailments. Finally, get hooked on Cassie and Glenn as they destroy their marriage while Glenn is running for political office.
