Farmers markets are a little different from shopping at a big-box store. Behind every booth is a small business, a lot of hard work, and often someone who spent hours preparing for market day.
So, here are a few friendly reminders for your next market visit!
🍪 If you see something you love, don’t wait!
That “I’ll come back around” can turn into “Sorry, we’re sold out!” We bring a limited amount of products, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. If you really want it, grab it while you can!
💵 Bring CASH!
Many vendors are small businesses, and not everyone accepts credit cards. Even those who do may have processing fees that eat into already tight margins. A little cash goes a long way in supporting your local vendors.
⏰ Come early, especially for baked goods!
Those cookies, breads, muffins, and pastries didn’t magically appear on the table. They were made fresh, often starting hours before sunrise. The early shoppers get the best selection, and popular items can sell out quickly.
🥧 A little love for the baked goods, please!
A whole lot of time, ingredients, planning, and care goes into those homemade treats. We love when you stop, look, and tell us everything looks delicious. But when you say, “Oh, that looks good!” and walk away, we might wonder if you were just being polite.
And if you’re interested but unsure, ask questions! We’re happy to tell you what’s in it, how it’s made, or what our favorites are.

It’s absolutely fine to browse! That’s part of the fun. But remember, vendors have invested their time and money in the products on their tables. Your purchases help keep these little businesses going.
