🍪 Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! 🍪

If there were ever a cookie that deserved its own holiday, this is the one.

Simple ingredients.
A little butter.
A little fresh milled flour.
A handful (or two) of chocolate chips.
And somehow… pure magic.

Chocolate chip cookies have a way of bringing people together—after school snacks, family gatherings, holiday cookie trays, and those late-night “I just need one cookie”… that somehow become three.

Here at Heirloom Cottage Kitchen, our Chocolate Cookie has always held a special place in my heart. It’s proof that the classics never go out of style.

So today, whether you’re baking a batch from scratch or enjoying one with someone you love, here’s to celebrating America’s favorite cookie.

Everything is baked from scratch using flour I mill myself from whole wheat berries, bringing you fresh flavor and the goodness of whole grains in every bite.

If you stopped by last week and found me sold out, be sure to come early! Cinnamon rolls tend to disappear quickly.

Well… apparently the hard white wheat berries were just as excited for me to be back in the kitchen as I was. 😅🌾

After a few days of not feeling well, I’m finally back to baking and prepping for this weekend… and within minutes, THIS happened.
A full spill of hard white wheat berries all over the floor.

Not exactly the fresh-milled content I had planned for today. 😂

But honestly? This little mess feels a lot like real life and small business baking — sometimes it’s beautiful cinnamon rolls and warm cookies… and sometimes it’s crawling around on the floor scooping up wheat berries one handful at a time.

Still grateful to be feeling better and back at it. ❤️

Spending today resetting from the flu. Hoping tomorrow I will feel well enough to visit family and attend some parades.

I’m so disappointed to share that I will not be at the first The Great Sidney Farmer's Market today. 💔

I woke up very sick this morning, and after a lot of hard decisions, we felt it was best for me to stay home and not attend. I was truly looking forward to today, so it’s hard seeing all the baked goods I prepared not get loaded up and set out for everyone.

Please head downtown and support the other vendors who braved the cold and rainy weather today!

I’m hoping to recover quickly and will plan to see everyone next Saturday.

I do have limited packages of fresh hamburger buns I baked specifically for today’s farmers market, send me a message if you’d like a package. I may be able to arrange porch pickup later this afternoon depending on how I’m feeling.
