Update from Karen Stein at Moose Hill
A lot has been happening at Cookies’ Garden.
· We opened the snake walk (or stump jump in early January so that kids who really wanted to begin enjoying this enticing area would have something to hold them until more could open. Our vacation week kids, Knee High naturalists and visitors have truly been enjoying just that portion.
· We are finalizing the rails at the top of the hill for safety and plan to open the hill, tunnel and boulders next week.
· The musical area is being installed as I write this – it looks awesome and I have to admit, the drums are my favorite place to go.
· The weaving panel and easel will be installed over the next few weeks and also opened up for enjoyment.
· We had an scout looking for his eagle project build a few benches for the space.
· We had a Daisy Troop that wanted to donate some of the funds they raised from their cookie sales to Cookie’s Garden and to come and do a small project with us in there (they planted spring flowers on the way into and out of the tunnel).
· Cookie’s sign is installed and people are loving the whole idea and concept.
· I received additional grant funding to work on the mud kitchen and hobbit play space so that will begin over the summer.
· I am working with a mom’s club in town – they are going to do a fundraiser so they can also give back to the community in supporting this space.
· We have a few volunteer groups that are providing some funds and the volunteer-power to put in some edge shrubs to better define the space.

So great to see the progress on Cookie's Garden. The center hill is taking shape!

As Spring approaches work is beginning to create Cookie's Garden nature play area at Moose Hill. Thanks to you and the fundraising efforts of our colleagues at Mass Audubon we have raised enough money to build the central core of the garden, the hill that will house the play tunnel, log steps, boulders, and dry stream bed.

We are looking for a June 2016 opening! As site work begins, Moose Hill Director Karen Stein will put the word out to seek volunteers to help in the building, as well as look for donors interested in funding the purchase or development of the Phase II play areas which will be on the periphery of the site.

Thank you for all your support. Please stop by Moose Hill and watch the garden come to life and keep the memory and legacy of our amazing Cookie alive.
